West Hollywood residents may soon be able to obtain virtual parking permits for their guests.
The city’s Facilities and Recreation Services Department is proposing the city consider a “permit by plate” parking system. With that system, a resident can go online to register a visitor’s car, using that car’s license plate number. Parking enforcement staff can use cameras to scan a vehicle’s license plate to determine if the plate has been registered.
The system would allow residents to avoid having to physically pick up permits at City Hall, the Kings Road Parking Garage or the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. And visitors won’t have to run into a host’s apartment to retrieve a permit to hang on their rearview mirrors.
Acknowledging that all residents might not be comfortable with the digital application process, the city would continue to make it possible to pick up permits at the current three physical locations.
The city’s Transportation Commission unanimously endorsed the concept at a meeting in June. It will go before the City Council at its meeting on Monday for its final approval.
The Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd., south of Santa Monica. Parking is free in the five-story parking structure behind the chambers with a ticket validated in the lobby.
There has to be a better way than having to get license numbers from each one of your guests. Please figure that out!
Also, your gay pride weekend is a great revenue stream for WeHo. Post weekend there is so much trash in adjacent neighborhoods. Who is supposed to clean that up?
I did around my block area.
There was even vomit on my front entry.
I called to report all this to your Pride hot line. No response!!!!
Please mail me a check of $100 for my labor.
