West Hollywood residents Yola Doré and Anny Semonco, both members of the city’s Disabilities Advisory Board, have been named winners of the 27th annual Access Awards by the L.A. County Commission on Disabilities. Dore and Semonco are two of the winners chosen from the L.A. Board of Supervisor’s Third District, which covers West Hollywood. Also chosen from the Third District are Aaron and Rickey Bloom, founders and creators of the ETTA Israel Center.
The awards are intended to honor individuals, corporations and public entities that have made outstanding contributions and/or have demonstrated leadership, commitment, inspiration, facilitation or promotion of
accessibility and equality for people with disabilities. Proceeds from this event will be used to support the Disabilities Commission’s scholarship programs and outreach to the disability community.
The awards will be given on Oct. 15 at a luncheon at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. A portion of the proceeds from these events will be used to provide education scholarships for students with disabilities. To purchase tickets or a table online, please visit http://bosevents.lacounty.gov.
For more information to become a sponsor or questions about the luncheon, contact Commission staff at (213) 974-1053 or its website.
Congrats to two of my favorite weho ladies. Their strength and kindness to all has enriched my life. I’m glad to know both of them.
Congratulations to you both and thank you for your many years of service !
Congratulations to both, my dear friends, Anny and Yola. Through what I’d describe as their “timid tenacity” and “Texan grace” (I’ll let them figure out which applies to which), one learns quickly not to be on opposite sides of an issue with either of these outstanding community leaders, making them effective advocates for improving accessibility and equality for people living with disabilities in our City and throughout Los Angeles County. Again, congrats to you both!
