A construction crew ruptured an underground power line Thursday, causing an outage that affected about 45 Southern California Edison customers and darkened traffic signals on the Sunset Strip.
The outage was reported about 4 p.m. in an area roughly bounded by Londonderry Place to the north, North La Cienega Boulevard to the east, Fountain Avenue to the south and Sunset Plaza Drive to the west, according to Mary Ann Milbourn of SCE.
The crew that struck the line was not from the utility, Milbourn said.
The outage cut power to traffic lights on Sunset Boulevard at Sunset Plaza Drive and Alta Loma Road, causing traffic congestion, according to the sheriff’s West Hollywood Station.
It was unclear how many, if any of the affected customers were businesses.
Milbourn said service restoration was expected between 5 and 6 a.m. Friday.
