The West Hollywood City Council challengers and incumbents are expected to come together Sunday to eat ice cream and meet the neighbors at an event sponsored by the West Hollywood West Residents Association.

The event, which will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m., is open to all residents of the West Hollywood West neighborhood, which stretches from La Cienega west to Doheny and from Melrose south to Beverly.

It will be the first time all candidates in the March 5 election show up together.

WHWRA is one of the more active neighborhood groups in West Hollywood, frequently lobbying the City Council on issues that affect its residents.  More information about the association, including contact information to learn the location of the event, can be found online or on its Facebook page.

Would be nice for residents that live off Sunset in the center city south of sunset and center city with myself previously living east of Fairfax had options to have what sunset heights and West Hollywood west have, oh yes that’s right renters having less options than home owners and condo owners that dominate those associations. Feel a bit slighted

Do you prefer a defeatist attitude? Collect your friends and neighbors and form a neighborhood alliance. Crescent Heights Havenhurst formed one with renters, building owners and condo owners to be conscious and prepared about the quality of life and invasive development projects. I’m sure you would be welcome.

James, myself and two other residents of my neighborhood association are in the process of beefing up our membership and participation to have more of a presence. We are a combination of renters and homeowners. If you would like to see your neighborhood have more of a presence I urge you to get involved. Contact Jasmine Duckworth at W.H. City Hall, she can give you more information and tell you what you can do to get involved. Remember, it was renters who helped found this city.

The WHWRA is the closest thing we have to the IOWA caucuses. Candidates are face to face with residents in a mix and mingle – make your pitch – your time to shine moment. The only thing missing is the hay!
