Demonstrators Outside WeHo City Hall Demand Freedom for Britney Spears

Demonstrators outside West Hollywood City Hall demanding Britney Spears be released from a rehab facility

The more common West Hollywood demonstrations in recent months have been in front of the Laurel Avenue home of Ed Buck, the white gay political donor in whose home two black men have died of meth overdoses.  So it came as a surprise to some residents to see fans of Britney Spears clustered on the sidewalk outside West Hollywood City Hall holding signs and shouting chants of “Free Britney.”

The pop stars fans apparently were protesting a rumor that she was being held against her will in a treatment facility at the advice of her manager, Larry Rudolph. However, Billboard reported earlier this month that Spears checked herself into a 30-day rehab program and that she also was struggling with her father’s health problems.  In an Instagram post in January she revealed that her father had almost died and that she was putting on hold an excursion to Las Vegas in February.  People magazine reported that Spears was given a one-day release from the facility on Easter Sunday to be with her family.

It’s not clear why the protest took place outside West Hollywood City Hall. The protestors did, however, attract a lot of social media coverage. They carried signs that said “Truth Will Set Her Free” and “Free Britney.” The protest was live-streamed on YouTube.

Why is this anyone else’s business other than Ms. Spears? Get a life folks and clean up your own biz. Goes for the National Inquirer Wehoville Edition as well.

So… All that hubbub, yet NOT EVEN ONE protestor acted to grab some clippers and shave their own head in order to demonstrate their dedication?

It’s Britney, not Brittany (title and twice in first paragraph) or Brittney (caption).

In this case the protesters here need to check their facts and, find a better cause. I could suggest several ones more worthy! The troubled pop star checked herself into a “health facility for self-care,” according to a report by the Los Angeles Times (a source that should be seriously considered as opposed to the tabloids). She did NOT have a 5150 hold placed on her and, is expected to remain at the facility for 30 days by her own free will. The “truth” that will set her free is her taking responsibility for her own mental health and substance… Read more »

Let me correct you. Britney Spears has no conset because a court ruled in her Father’s favor in 2008 and placed her in his guardianship. Britney Spears is under what is called a conservatorship – which means her father is her legal guardian and in control of her personal life, her career and her finances. Everything must be APPROVED by Jamie Spears. Britney’s fans much like other fan bases are passionate about human rights and feel there has big a HUGE civil rights violation as Britney Spears has no consent (legally) under this guardianship ruled by a judge who was… Read more »
