Latest Crime Report Shows Relatively Low Number of Vehicle Break-Ins in WeHo

There were 10 successful or attempted thefts from vehicles in West Hollywood between May 27 and June 2 according to a report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. There also were a number of assaults. And no, that chainsaw wielded by the man arrested on Santa Monica Boulevard at Fairfax on May 29 was not real.  What follows is a list of serious (Part 1) crimes reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.  A more complete list can be found on Crimemapping.com

May 27

Aggravated Assault – Hands, Fist, Feet. 9000 block Sunset Boulevard between 1:30 and 2 a.m. A man was punched and kicked while standing outside of the club. The victim was intoxicated and does not remember any details. #03444

Aggravated Assault – Hands, Fist, Feet. 800 block North Robertson Boulevard at 1:30 a.m. A man was walking northbound on Robertson Boulevard when another man approached him and touched the victim’s genital area. The victim pushed the suspect away and was then punched several times in the face by the suspect. #03446

Grand Theft. 8500 block Melrose Avenue between 1:30 and 2 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a bag containing a laptop computer that was sitting on the ground near the victim’s table. #03504

Grand Theft. Laurel Avenue / Romaine Street between 5 and 6:30 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a camera and camera lens from the trunk of the unlocked vehicle. #03528

Residential Burglary. 9000 block Harratt Street between 8:35 and 10 p.m. An unknown suspect removed a glass window panel to gain entry and ransacked the bedroom. The suspect removed one pair of diamond earrings and a bracelet from a jewelry box in the bedroom. #03493

Vehicle Burglary. 9000 block Beverly Boulevard at 9:25 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a leather bag containing a laptop computer from the front seat. #03488

Vehicle Burglary. 1000 block Hayworth Avenue (Attempt) at 7:42 p.m.  A man pulled on the doors and broke the driver’s side mirror in an attempt to gain entry but was unsuccessful. Loss $260. #03536

May 29

Grand Theft. 8400 Sunset Boulevard between 10 and 11:40 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a cell phone from the victim’s tool box. #03514

Armed Robbery (Suspect Arrested). 7900 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 8:20 a.m.  A man approached the victim while holding a fake chainsaw and demanded money. The suspect also chased several people and acted as if he would cut them with the chainsaw. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03502

Vehicle Burglary. 8900 block Sunset Boulevard at 1:30 a.m.  An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed four bags containing a cell phone, laptop computer, and medication from the rear floorboard. #03442

Other Burglary. 9000 block West Sunset Boulevard between 3:15 and 3:45 a.m. A man used an unlocked bathroom window to gain entry to the office area and then pried open a filing cabinet and removed an iPad and company checks. #03523

Vehicle Burglary. 8300 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 3:15 and 4  p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a backpack and duffel bag containing a laptop computer, clothing, and jewelry from the back seat. #03529

Other Burglary. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard between May 31 and June 3. An unknown suspect cut the locks and removed two bicycles from a bike rack in the subterranean parking garage. #03612

Vehicle Burglary. 8700 block Sunset Boulevard between 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer and iPad from the front floorboard. #03553

June 1

Residential Burglary. 1200 block Horn Avenue between 9:35 and 10:50 p.m.  An unknown suspect used an unlocked patio door to gain entry and damaged the security alarm speaker but did not take anything from the residence. #03580

Vehicle Burglary. 8600 block Melrose Avenue between 10:56 and 11:26 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and pushed the seat down to access the trunk. The suspect removed two backpacks and two pieces of luggage from the trunk. #03568

Vehicle Burglary. 300 block North Robertson Boulevard between 11:30 a.m. and noon. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a camera and two Korean passports from the back seat. #03569

June 2

Strong Arm Robbery. Santa Monica Boulevard / San Vicente Boulevard at 2:40 a.m.  A man was walking northbound on San Vicente Boulevard when the suspect approached him from behind and hit the victim on his head with an unknown blunt object. The victim lost consciousness and the suspect took his cell phone and wallet. #03587

Vehicle Burglary. 1000 block Carol Drive between 5 p.m. and 7:15 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and searched the glove box but did not take anything. #03607

Vehicle Burglary. 7600 block Hampton Avenue between 9 a.m. and 7 a.m. the next day. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a bag containing clothing from the front seat and the handicap placard from the rearview mirror. #03608
