Who was Tom of Finland, the man whose “unabashedly sexual drawings” shaped the fantasies and fetishes of generations of gay men? This OutFest film follows the life of Touko Laaksonen from the trenches of WWII through the repression of the 1950s to the explosion of gay liberation. This biopic pays tribute to a pioneer of erotic art who called Los Angeles home during the latter years of his life.

The screening takes place on Tuesday at the Director’s Guild of America, 7920 W. Sunset Blvd. from 7 to 8:55 p.m. The event begins with a reception in the DGA atrium. Tickets, $15, can be purchased at OutFest.org. The film is in English, German and Finnish, with English subtitles.
