In celebration of Outfest Screening Writing Lab 20th Anniversary and in conjunction with PST:LA/LA, Outfest presents “Contracorriente (Undertow),” a film by writer-director Javier Fuentes-León that was Peru’s official submission for the Oscar’s Best Foreign Picture the year the film came out.

The film, screened from 7:30 to 10 pm. at the West Hollywood City Council Chambers, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd., is the story of a man living in a village where tradition forces him to keep his sexual desires secret until a tragic accident makes him come to terms with his contradictory feelings, building a bold declaration of love that will set free him and his lover and transform the village.

The screening is part of the programming for Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA and WeHo Artes with the collaboration of Mi Centro. The screening is free but those attending are asked to make a reservation online.

Parking in the five-story structure behind the Council Chambers is free with a ticket validated at the event.
