March 5 – Interfaith Shelter Network: LGBTQ Summit

When: March 5th from 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Where: St Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, 2728 6th Ave, San Diego

Details: You are invited to join Mayor Kevin Faulconer, the Interfaith Shelter Network of San Diego, St Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, and San Diego Pride for the Interfaith Shelter Network: LGBTQ Summit.

With the goal of reducing LGBTQ homelessness in San Diego, the summit aims to provide tools for your congregation to help some of our most vulnerable residents as they work toward permanent housing.

Up to 1.6 million people in the United States experience homelessness each year and our LGBTQ population are at greater risk than non-LGBTQ people. In fact it is estimated that 40 percent of homeless youth identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. People within the LGBTQ community face unique challenges when seeking supportive services. With your help, we can create a network of congregations that are welcoming and affirming to the LGBTQ community while providing them a safe place to turn their lives around.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jen Lebron, Mayor Faulconer’s Director of Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Policy at jlebron@sandiego.gov or (619) 236-7056.
