The next time you run into Pat Dixon attending a meeting of the West Hollywood City Council or sitting with the Senior Advisory Board or just on the sidewalk in West Hollywood, you might want to ask for her autograph.
In a city where more than a few people are on a quest to become famous, Dixon easily scored her 15 minutes of fame (actually 7 minutes and 12 seconds) with an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday night.
Dixon, who identified herself on the show as being “one year after 80,” is well known in West Hollywood for her service on the Senior Advisory Board. She also is active with Social Security Works, an organization focused on preserving and protecting the Social Security system. A native of New York City, Dixon once was a model at the Art Students League there.
On the Kimmel show, Dixon faced off with a 12-year-old boy from Sherman Oaks in “Generation Gap,” a contest that Kimmel describes as a battle of the ages.
Both Dixon and young Noah Grismer tackled questions focused on actors, shows, and cartoons from generations other than their own.
“What is the common name for fake sets of teeth older people put in their mouths?” “Dentures,” was Noah’s winning answer.
“What does HBO stand for?” “Hairy Broadcast Orientation,” said Noah, in a rare loss. Dixon shouted out “Home Box Office.”
The contest ended up with the 12-year-old and 81-year-old contestants in a tie. Kimmel presented Dixon with a modern Apple watch and Noah with an old-fashioned wristwatch.
Dixon told WEHOville that someone working for the Kimmel show came upon her at the L.A. Farmer’s Market and tossed a quote from Muhammed Ali at her: “Float like a butterfly,” to which Dixon replied “Sting like a bee.”
“Now I know what it’s like to be a movie star,” Dixon joked. “My ego was so inflated. .. I have to get down from it.”
So cute!
That’s my “baby sister, smart as a whip 👍
Pat was a municipal treasure; now she’s a national one. Congrats, Pat!

Noah got an “old fashioned pocket watch”, not a wristwatch.
He said Noah got an old pocket watch.
Love Pat Dixon! Even before she made me laugh!
Pat! Pat! Pat!……Horray!
If I’m not mistaken, Ms. Dixon acted in John Cassavettes “Shadows” in 1959. A woman of many talents! And yes, she slayed them on JKL!!!
Just finished watching the show from last night. It was a cute bit and both Pat and Noah were tremendous; worthy opponents. Pat did WeHo proud!
