ICYMI: West Hollywood’s 2019 Halloween Carnaval

In case you missed it (but how could you have?): Here are some images from Santa Monica Boulevard during Thursday night’s Halloween Carnaval. As always, it attracted a wide variety of people — every age, gender, sex, ethnicity, race, and however else folks identify themselves each day. The colorful character who seemed to get the most attention was a Donald Trump on wheels.

The usual group of Christians protesting abortion and homosexuality showed up on La Cienega Boulevard, and so did a group carrying signs declaring their support for the residents of Hong Kong, who have been carrying on a months-long demonstration against China’s efforts to limit their freedom.

I loved it it was a lot of fun. They should close at 2 a.m. like the clubs. Love the hot dog vendors. find spots for them if it’s really about people getting pushed into their carts, like you have those Gates around the center dividers, do the same for them. I think it’s too much and too dangerous when the cops are chasing them they make it dangerous for us,
the crowd

Maybe the vendors should get a license, pay for a legal spot at the event and follow the rules like everyone else.

there’s nothing positive about this parade. quite a vile display and a huge nuisance to homeowners in the area.

Why no photos of the piles of banned hot dog carts in the middle of the crowds and blocking the sidewalks? And how about some photos of people being pushed into and tripping into the vendor’s fire-hot trays, splashing grease with the air filled with the rancid smoke. Time to award another West Hollywood Public Safety trophy.

Why the hate of the hot dog vendors? Totally get the other part but that’s not their fault people are drunk and throwing people at burners.

After buying a mask, One of the A-holes selling fans in front of Block Party WeHo pushed me out onto the sidewalk and said I was blocking the entrance. Never shopping there again!

Sorry bout that but the crowd needs to flow and entrance clear per fire department . The outside vendor selling the fans was one of our vendors and they had one clear instruction – keep the traffic moving and the entrance clear.

Lived in WeHo 25 years and have seen it ALL, at Carnival. The comments that I overheard were; “seriously, dude, no wifi”, “Too many kids”, “why are there so many dogs here”, “where are all the trash cans”, “where are all the amazing drag queens.” I have to say that I agree with almost all of the comments. It’s just not like it used to be so many years ago, but I LOVED the additional of the two groups of drum circles, the themed costume groups were great. I was a little disappointed with the two sunglass set up on… Read more »

Some people are born for Halloween, and some are just counting the days until Christmas.

I am at work, at Universal Studios. Just over the hill.🙀 I get off at 11:00pm! I plan on catching the end of it. I was born on the last day of the year. What can I say?
