The number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in West Hollywood jumped by six to a total of 210, according to today’s announcement by the Los Angeles County of Public Health.  The number of West Hollywood residents who have been tested as of today is 4,582, an increase of 128 from yesterday’s count.

The Health Department has confirmed 2,139 new infections and 34 new COVID-19-related deaths in Los Angeles County. That means the total of those confirmed to have been infected is 77,189 and those who have died totals 2,991.  The is the largest number of newly confirmed infections today, however the Health Department notes that about 600 of those come from a backlog of test results.

The  number of West Hollywood residents who have died from COVID-19-related illnesses remains at four.

Beverly Hills as of today has 188 infections, an increase of 12 from Tuesday’s count. The number of confirmed infections in Culver City remains at 176. The Hollywood neighborhood now has 362 confirmed infections, an increase of 20 from yesterday’s count. The Melrose neighborhood’s infections have increased by 17 to 713.

There are 1,420 people who are currently hospitalized, 28% of these people are in intensive care units and 22% are on ventilators. Testing capacity continues to increase in L.A. County, with testing results available for nearly 854,000 individuals and 8% of people testing positive.

The virus is easily transmitted among people in contact with each other, which means everyone must continue to follow distancing and infection control directives and wear a clean cloth face covering that securely covers both your nose and mouth when in contact with other people not in your household. Someone who thinks he or she could be positive and is awaiting testing results should stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days and 72 hours after symptoms and fever subside, or until that person receives a negative result. A person who tests positive for COVID-19 should plan on receiving a call from a contact tracer to discuss how to protect themselves and others, to find out where they may have been, and who they were in close contact with while infectious.
