Today’s COVID-19 Count Is 314 WeHo Infections and 127,358 Countywide

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health today reports 2,667 newly confirmed COVID-19 infections and 51 new deaths. On average over a seven-day period, 10% of those tested for the virus have been determined to be infected.

The newly confirmed infections mean that 127,358 positive cases of COVD-19 have been identified so far.  The number of deaths from COVID-19 related illnesses is 3,738.

In West Hollywood, 314 residents are confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19, up seven from yesterday’s count of 307.

There are 1,995 people currently hospitalized, 26% of these people are confirmed cases in hospital intensive care units and 17% are confirmed cases on ventilators. This is substantially higher than the 1,350 to 1,450 daily hospitalizations seen four weeks ago.

The Health Department today reported 20 newly confirmed infections among Beverly Hills residents, bringing its total to date to 351. Culver City today reports 242 infections, up five from yesterday.  With an additional eight infections reported today, the Hollywood neighborhood now is home to 570 infected people.  And there are 1,029 people  in the Melrose neighborhood who have been confirmed to be infected, up 12 from yesterday.

More than 65,000 cases nationally in a single day folks.
That is twice the population of West Hollywood.

One would think that with the number of health compromised residents, many inclined to engage in risk behavior in West Hollywood,and their penchant for being the “1st” to do every conceivable thing, would simply have cut and pasted the actions of Jacinda Ardern, PM of New Zealand.

A stunning missed opportunity from voiceless leaders even with up front experience in tragic viruses. What will it take?
