The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health today reports 1,703 new confirmed COVID-19 infections and 10 new deaths countywide. However, that count is incomplete because delays in the State of California’s electronic lab reporting system. The numbers are expected to increase in the next few days as more data becomes available.

The Health Department today reports 53 new deaths from COVID-19 related illnesses. To date, the Health Department has reported 172,325 COVID-19 infections in Los Angeles County and a total of 4,351 deaths.

As of today, four more West Hollywood residents are confirmed to have the virus, bringing the overall count to 407. Last week there were 27 newly confirmed infections in West Hollywood, a major decline from the 46 and 42 infections confirmed in the two previous weeks. However, it is unclear whether what effect the delay in test results has on that count. The number of WeHo residents who have died of COVID-19 related illnesses remains at five. In Beverly Hills, the number of confirmed infections is now 527, an increase of five from yesterday’s count. The number of deaths remains at nine.  In Culver City there are 306 confirmed infections, an increase of three from yesterday. The number of deaths remains at 27.

Hollywood has 793 confirmed infections, up 20 from yesterday’s count of 757. The number of deaths as of today is six, a reduction from yesterday’s count of nine (such reductions sometimes occur when it turns out that a person’s address was incorrect.) The Melrose neighborhood has 1,309 confirmed infections, up 40 from yesterday. There has been one new death, bringing the total so far to 48.

As noted before, one way the virus can be transmitted is through a cough, a sneeze or even through air that comes from the mouth when someone talks. For that reason, residents must wear face coverings when out in public and can be cited for not doing so. The citations come with a $250 fine and a $50 administrative fee.
