The City of West Hollywood is observing Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by encouraging people to donate to the homeless.

People are asked to donate money and/or gift cards to the city’s Homeless Initiative which supports services provided by nonprofits focused on reducing homelessness.

This raising money for the Homeless Initiative is being done as a partnership with West Hollywood Elementary School and the Friends of West Hollywood Elementary School for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service project.

The Day of Service project runs from Saturday to Jan. 31.

The city had originally planned to do specific activities in conjunction with the annual MLK Day of Service project, but pandemic health and safety protocols forced the switch to requesting online donations.
