On the Agenda: Homeless Services, Scooter Parking, and Commissioner Appointments

West Hollywood’s City Council is gearing up for a packed meeting on Monday, June 9 at 6:00 p.m. With a mix of routine approvals, public hearings, and strategic discussions.

A highlight will be the public hearings under Item C, focusing on business improvement districts. The Council will consider assessments for the Sunset Strip Business Improvement District and West Hollywood Design District for fiscal year 2025-2026, alongside five-year agreements with the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to manage their programs. An update on the Sunset Strip’s economic strategy will also be presented, reflecting ongoing efforts to boost this iconic corridor. Similarly, the Santa Monica Boulevard Maintenance District’s assessment and a five-year holiday lighting contract with Trovao & Associates Inc. will be up for approval, adding seasonal flair to the cityscape.

On the legislative front, Item F includes a resolution of intention to modify assessment penalties for both the Sunset Strip and Design Districts, with public hearings set for June 23, 2025. The Council will also explore a Sacramento Legislative Action Day in 2026 for appointed officials to advocate for city priorities, backed by up to $15,000. Meanwhile, a co-sponsorship of the OutLoud Sports Festival on August 30-31, 2025, at West Hollywood Park will see the city waiving fees and allocating $2,500, promising a vibrant community event.

A significant study session under SS.2 will address homelessness, evaluating the city’s response framework and proposing strategies like a Multidisciplinary Team and streamlined outreach. This follows a postponement of the drone as first responder pilot program (SS.1) due to Sheriff’s Department policy delays. Consent items, including ordinance adoptions for neighborhood meetings and firearm regulations, will move quickly unless pulled for debate.

Residents can participate via Zoom or written comments by noon on June 9, with accessibility support available through the City Clerk at (323) 848-6800.
