Two “Amazon delivery persons” walked into a mailroom on February 13 and walked out with an armful of packages that weren’t theirs. The catch — they weren’t Amazon personnel. They were just posing and thieving. Smile, you’re on camera you thieving idiots.
The theft at the West Hollywood Heights apartment complex has been reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department. The alert came from Elyse Eisenberg, president of the WeHo Heights Neighborhood Association, who flagged the incident to residents and brought it to WEHOonline’s attention.
It’s a scheme that’s hit apartment buildings in cities across the country. The gear, the attitude, the purposeful stride toward the mailroom. Nobody stops someone who looks like they belong there.
Amazon’s familiar with it. “Unfortunately, there are bad actors who wear look-alike apparel to steal packages from customers’ homes,” the company has said following similar incidents elsewhere. They encourage victims to report thefts to police and reach out to Amazon customer service directly.
New Neighborhood Website Launches
Eisenberg’s alert also came with good news for the neighborhood. The WeHo Heights Neighborhood Association just launched a new website at wehoheights.com, designed by Horn Plaza resident Kyle Boss. It’s a hub for neighborhood news, updates and safety alerts like this one.
What Residents Should Do
The neighborhood association’s asking residents not to let delivery workers into the mailroom unattended. Pick up packages as soon as the delivery notification hits. And pay attention to who you’re buzzing in.

Take a close look at the alleged suspects in the photo above. Suspected impersonators can be reported to Amazon by emailing reportascam@amazon.com or through amazon.com/reportascam. If personal information was shared during the incident, file a report with the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Theft and safety concerns should also be reported to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station at (310) 855-8850. If you recognize them or have seen them in your building or neighborhood call them asap.

This should make them eligible for the death penalty. Don’t F with our packages, even if it’s the tyrant in chief’s best friend Jeff Bezos company.
Death penalty for package theft? That’s a bit much, especially since the state of California isn’t even handing that out for murder right now.
