Andrew Christian announces ‘the end of an era’

Andrew Christian, the largest gay apparel company in the world has announced they will be closing at the end of 2025.    The brand was founded in 1997 by the designer himself.

The company has a storied rise to fame and fortune having been selected to the INC. 500 fastest growing companies in America in 4 consecutive years of 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.    The company and its signature brand Andrew Christian is well known as the fashion leader in its core underwear and swimwear niche.    The brands under the AC umbrella include the registered trademarks of  ‘Trophy Boy’ – and ‘Big Fat Dick’ for hung guys,  ‘THICK’ – for the bigger guys, ‘VIBE’ – sportswear, ‘FUKR’ – fetish wear, ‘Almost Naked’ – which offered men a hang-free pouch, ‘SHOW-IT’- frontal enhancement.  ECO-collective – recycled plastics and eco-friendly attire, and the largest selection of PRIDE driven merchandise in the industry.   In WeHo, many dancers are often seen or required to wear Andrew Christian products.

Andrew Christian’s designs have set the agenda for many gay boutiques throughout the USA and abroad.  The business has been affected by the closures of some of their largest customers and gay -driven apparel stores throughout the nation who have shuttered their doors.

In his letter to customers Christian wrote:   “The end of an era.  – Andrew Christian is closing.”

“I began this journey with the wounds of my childhood still fresh—growing up gay in Fresno’s Section 8 housing meant learning to endure racial and anti-gay slurs, like “beaner” and “faggot,” before I knew how to properly thread a needle.”

“Fashion wasn’t just an aspiration; it was survival. It became my sanctuary, my declaration of gay existence. Each stitch was a heartbeat; each garment, not just a part of my story, but my coming out. For over a quarter of a century, I have poured my soul into this craft—building not just clothes, but sacred havens where my LGBTQ family could feel seen, valued, and beautiful.”

“To the young queer dreamers clutching sketchbooks in the corners of rooms not built for you—I see you. Your hands may tremble now, but they will one day shape worlds.”  “What began as stitches of survival has blossomed into a legacy of love—and as I fold away the fabrics of this career, my spirit remains committed to creating mirrors where the unseen can finally recognize their own beauty.”     A full copy of Andrew Christian’s farewell to his retail customers can be seen here.

Christopher Yoo, Vice President of sales and marketing confirmed the closure and that there is no pending sale of the company.  “The company is closing toward the end of the year or the beginning of next year.   We will keep everyone updated as we get more accurate on the timeline.”

Andrew Christian products are available in West Hollywood at the BlockParty.

This line was cheaply made. Two washing and the stitching was falling apart. It was poorly made and over priced and glad they are going away.

Cheap fabric and made in sweat shops. Those models and wannabes would do well to seek real employment.

This deserves a three line article. Who cares.

OMG, Andrew Christian is closing?! That’s wild! I’ve always loved their stuff, so unique and fun. It’s sad to see them go, but I’m sure Andrew Christian will continue doing amazing things!

A friend gifted me a pair of Andrew Christian underwear retailing for more than $50. After only two wearings and subsequent laundering the fabric was visibly deteriorated and the seams were failing and unravelling. Extremely poor quality may also have contributed to the demise of the Andrew Christian brand.

Doesn’t make sense. SOMEONE must have been willing to take on this high profile brand. Something else is going on.
