West Hollywood Sheriff’s detectives are asking the public to help identify a man suspected of seriously injuring someone outside Barney’s Beanery on January 8, and nearly seven weeks later he still hasn’t been identified.
The West Hollywood Station released surveillance images on Monday, February 23 — several photos of the man they want to find. Investigators say a physical altercation outside the bar left one person with serious injuries that required hospitalization. Detectives haven’t said what started the fight or whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
The man they’re looking for is a Caucasian male, approximately 40 years old. He was wearing a blue hat, a blue hoodie, and black sweatpants at the time.
Anyone who recognizes him is asked to contact Detective Gonzales at 310-358-4011 or c2mgonza@lasd.org. Anonymous tips go to L.A. Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or lacrimestoppers.org.
It’s not the first time Barney’s Beanery has been at the center of something like this. In September 2024, longtime valet Efrain “Frankie” Zarazua was beaten unconscious in the restaurant’s parking lot in what the bar described as a random, unprovoked attack. He ended up in the ICU with multiple injuries to his head, neck, and body. That case got solved after the public responded to a similar tip request. A transient named Dorian Michael Gray, 28, was arrested and charged with attempted murder along with six other violent offenses — all committed within a ten-minute window on Santa Monica Boulevard that same night.
