One of Los Angeles’ most anticipated and unapologetically fabulous events is back: the Best in Drag Show returns to the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday, October 5, 2025, promising another evening of high camp, creative brilliance, and heartfelt activism.
What began more than 30 years ago as a cheeky fundraiser in a West Hollywood living room has since grown into a full-scale theatrical spectacle — and one of L.A.’s most beloved drag events. But this isn’t just about glitter and gags. Behind the wigs and rhinestones is a cause that’s deeply rooted in compassion: raising funds for housing and support services for people living with HIV in Los Angeles County.
A Drag Show with Purpose
Produced entirely by volunteers, Best in Drag Show benefits the Alliance for Housing & Healing, a program of APLA Health. Funds raised from the event go directly toward providing critical services — including long-term housing — for Angelenos impacted by HIV.
“We’re beyond excited to bring back Best in Drag Show, a celebration of creativity and boldness,” said Craig E. Thompson, CEO of APLA Health. “At a time when our community is under attack, the funds raised are critical to providing vital housing and support services.”
Since its founding in 1983, APLA Health has become a leading healthcare provider for people living with HIV, serving over 22,000 individuals each year. Their services span everything from primary medical and dental care to behavioral health, sexual health services, and food security programs — including the Vance North Necessities of Life Program, the nation’s largest food pantry for people with HIV.
What to Expect
The 2025 edition of Best in Drag Show promises to be as outrageous, heartfelt, and entertaining as ever, complete with:
Over-the-top beauty pageant parody performances
Elaborate costumes and jaw-dropping choreography
Audience-favorite categories like “Talent,” “Swimwear,” and “Evening Gown”
Comedy, satire, and surprise celebrity appearances
This year’s event also welcomes homegrown star Salina EsTitties, who got her start at Best in Drag Show and has since become a celebrated drag performer nationwide. Her return to the Orpheum stage is expected to be one of the evening’s highlights.
“This show is more than entertainment — it’s a statement of inclusion, empowerment, and community strength,” said Terry D. Goddard II, Director of the Alliance for Housing & Healing. “Every act is infused with joy, defiance, and love.”

Good grief.
I’m gay. Never done drag. Never attended a drag show. I don’t get drag. It’s never been a part of my life. I love Motley Crue and I’m gay. Why don’t we celebrate Motley Crue at every turn in the gay community?
I LIKE APPLES I GAY WHY NO CELEBRATE GAY APPLES
