UPDATED: Block by Block Security Ambassadors replaced by Allied & Securitas

UPDATE: Staff report indicates the new security company being recommended are ALLIED UNIVERSAL SECURITY SERVICES FOR CITYWIDE AND TRANSIT UNARMED SECURITY AMBASSADOR SERVICES and SECURITAS SECURITY SERVICES USA, INC. FOR UNARMED COMMUNITY SAFETY OFFICER SERVICES

WeHo’s Block by Block Security Ambassadors will be told in a scheduled Thursday meeting they are being replaced.

All Block by Block security ambassadors will receive a mass termination letter.

———

The Block by Block Security Ambassadors under contract with the City of West Hollywood are being replaced by Allied Universal Security Services for Citywide and Transit Unarmed Security Ambassador Services and Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. for Unarmed Community Safety Officer Services

The item is planned for discussion on the August 18th agenda.   But Allied & Securitas are already taking over and giving notices to Block by Block ambassadors without a formal vote by the city council or public input.

Employees of Block by Block have been asked to sign a document that contains information regarding their release.  The first anonymous source stated “employees are currently unaware of the full scope of the upcoming changes or who will be replacing the BBB ambassadors in West Hollywood.   At present, the general manager Erica Leon and certain morning supervisors are placing increasing pressure to perform at an unprecedented level.   It has also been confirmed that a new security company has already assumed responsibility at the Fountain House location.”

Another earlier report prior incorrectly identified the company as Inter-Con Security.    The article has updated to avoid any confusion.

Chair of the Public Safety Commission Bill Harrison was aware that an RFP Process (request for proposal) had taken place but could not comment of any final selection.

From one mall cop to another…this is getting funny!! Defund the police and hire a different set of people wearing polos and a walkie talkie that can’t do (blank). Lollll the mind of a liberal. Must be fun!

You are 100 percent correct. They replaced Block by Block with the Mexican version, Securitas whatever. Hilarious. Now, instead of yelling “Help!,” you’ll have to yell “Ayuda!”

Cancelling the contract before a discussion and vote? Block by Block is useless, Allied is a great company, but this strongly implies who actually runs the place. . . the unelected city staff.

This ought to be interesting. Inter-con is the security company handling a museum I was working with and the museum is replacing them. They hire inexperienced staff so are really just doing a little crowd control and not acting as security officers.

A tale of two new security companies hired by the city of West Hollywood. Paul Murillo at the weho times posted a story that the city hired Allied Security Services. This site is saying Inter-Con Security Services. Which one is telling the truth here.

100% minority controlled? Who cares? Why so much resistance to hiring more police?

At no time does the city council act in the interests of the residents. They have a twisted orthodoxy that repels common sense.

Oh! Is this because SEPTIC Shyne is no longer in office on the city council, and so her little “backroom deal“ W/? blocked by block and her getting the kickbacks is no longer a thing?? Because, come on, we all know that that was the deal. This has grift and corruption and kickbacks written all over it. it always has been. And it’s also a pathetic substitute for hiring actual sheriff deputies who can provide actual law-enforcement, and actual safety, instead of these rent a cops who sleep on the job, commit sexual harassment, and who knows what else except… Read more »

A waste of taxpayer money. Hire more well trained sheriffs with the ability to arrest. Otherwise you’re just hiring hall monitors.

There are no available sheriffs to bring on for the time being. LASD does not have enough recruits and those graduating from the academy are being placed elsewhere (places with bigger staffing issues than WeHo).

Who would want to work for LASD? The city doesn’t support them. They are out on their own.

Many officers are leaving to join ICE. Our major cities are in serious trouble. Most Americans support Trump getting involved.

“Most Americans support Trump getting involved.”

Have you noticed his polling numbers?

I roll my eyes. Feeble. Then again, Trump people love to lie.

Sounds like a sloppy transition, just like our city leadership past and present. I am thrilled BBB is being let go, but the money for security services would be better spent on bringing on additional sheriff deputies for foot patrols and neighborhood patrols. Enough with the rent a cops.

That isn’t possible for now nor for the foreseeable future. There are no available sheriffs to bring on. LASD does not have enough recruits and those graduating from the academy are going to other cities with bigger staffing issues than WeHo.
