Updated: Council member Meister Leaves Council Meeting Citing Medical Issue

Council member Meister had a tear in the retina.   She relayed a message that she had a procedure and is in the process of healing.

Council member Lauren Meister was seated at Monday night’s city council meeting.  At the outset of the meeting she asked to adjourn the meeting in the name of Carleton Cronin and participated in agenda motions. She stood to give a proclamation to and was present during the public comment period.

After the public comment period Mayor Byers called a 10-minute recess.   The city council left the chamber and returned ten minutes later.

Upon returning Mayor Byers then announced that council member Meister would not be able to stay for the rest of the evening and had to leave for a medical reason.    The council obliged Meister’s request to table items of concern and the night’s public hearing was moved to a following agenda.

Later in the evening Vice Mayor Heilman announced that council member Meister was doing well and that she had an eye issue.

If I remember correctly, she was one who voted against the annual Halloween parade on Santa Monica Ave in 2022 citing Covid concerns? That was 3 years of no Halloween parade.
