A black sedan struck a tree on La Brea Avenue in West Hollywood Wednesday evening, sending the driver to the hospital.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. in front of the McDonald’s at 1133 La Brea Avenue, between Lexington Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. The vehicle was traveling southbound.
The driver was seen being pulled from the car after all the airbags had gone off. They appeared to be in shock and unsteady on their feet as emergency personnel were pulling them from the vehicle.
Paramedics eventually loaded the driver onto a gurney and transported them by ambulance to a local hospital. A witness at the scene said the driver may have suffered a broken arm.
West Hollywood sheriff’s deputies and Los Angeles County firefighters responded after a 911 caller reported a car had crashed into a tree. Scanner traffic dispatched multiple West Hollywood units on a go-through response.
Photos from the scene showed the black sedan’s front end destroyed, the driver’s side front wheel knocked out of alignment, doors open, and debris scattered across the roadway. Multiple sheriff’s vehicles blocked the lane.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
