West Hollywood is mourning the death of David Brackett, a beloved bartender at The Bayou on Santa Monica Boulevard who died after a battle with cancer.

The bar announced his passing on Instagram last week. “There are some people who don’t just pass through a place, they become part of its heartbeat,” the post said. “David was one of those people.”
The bar described Brackett as someone who remembered regulars by name, story, and usual order. “He made people feel seen, welcomed, and at home,” the post said.

A celebration of life will be held at The Bayou, 8939 Santa Monica Blvd., on Wednesday, April 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. Proceeds will go to funeral expenses and his family.

Additional details about Brackett, including his age and length of service at The Bayou, were not immediately available.

“Such an amazing soul,” one friend wrote. “Will miss his smile.”
