Demi Lovato will be the grand marshal at this year’s LA Pride parade.

Lovato also will perform at this year’s New York City Pride Pier Dance.
“It’s such an honor to be a part of both LA and NYC PRIDE celebrations this year,” Lovato said in a press release from CSW. “I have been an active advocate of the LGBT community and am wholly committed to supporting individuality and being comfortable in one’s own skin. I am thrilled to be a part of both events as they are a wonderful celebration of independence and self-confidence.”
“Demi Lovato is an amazing role model for today’s youth, both LGBT and non-LGBT, for her activism in the area of equality, positive messaging on body image, and level of openness with her struggles. As a community, we’re fortunate to have an ally like Demi,” said Patti DiLuigi, co-president of Christopher Street West.
LA PRIDE runs June 6 to 8, with the parade on June 8. More information on the event is available at lapride.org.
just because Paris Hilton did something doesn’t make it right. She sat way on the very top of a double decker bus looking down at us………
Ms. Lovato wasn’t on anybody’s radar screen four months ago:

CSW is out of touch with the community they hope to represent, and they need to be replaced.
I see nothing wrong with this, as it’s part of the long tradition of naming great civil rights icons as Grand Marshals. Remember Paris Hilton and her work with the gay marriage issue? I believe that’s the reason Ms. Hilton was our Grand Marshal in 2005.
Never heard of her. Why not get someone people have heard of or someone who has done something for our community. sounds like its a sweetheart deal with the pride committee to promote her music. We need to start booing these people when they go by us in the parade to send a message to the pride committee….also boo the sheriff’s department for putting those two whacko cops who killed the innocent guy back on our streets
How appropriate that one of her songs is, “Here we go again.”
I don’t get this at all. What does she have to do with the LGTB community? I thought the festival was going to have a different focus this year?
