Early Morning Smash and Grab on Larrabee.

This past Sunday morning, a Micky’s bartender returned to his car to find the windows shattered.   The glass was splattered throughout his vehicle.   He had left his car parked along Larrabee.

After work he dropped his backpack to the car and took an Uber to a friends and came back two hours later to find the car windows shattered and his backpack gone.  “They smashed the glass and the backpack was in the front seat, that was my mistake.”   They got my backpack and change of clothes, – and some other things, hopefully they need it.”   He preferred to keep his name private.

The robbery, not reported to the sheriff joins a list of incidents on Larrabee Drive including multiple car accidents, multiple reports of indecent exposure, homeless encampments among other issues.

In August of 2023, two years ago on the 800 block of Larrabee Street, three armed suspects with handguns and a rifle ambushed a man, pushing him against a fence and stealing his phone and wallet. The incident was captured on surveillance video and reported widely by local news.

In June of 2024 another armed robbery was reported near Cynthia and Larrabee, close to the Petit Ermitage hotel. A man was held at gunpoint and his bag was stolen. The victim noted he had not seen any increased patrols in the area despite city promises after the 2023 incident.

In April of 2021 a robbery occurred in an alleyway near Larrabee Street. A suspect stole a designer bag and other items from victims. The crime was caught on video, and the suspect was reportedly picked up by a getaway car.

Larrabee remains a dimly lit street despite many complaints from residents.

Sadly this town has a zero tolerance policy for leaving things in your car 🙁
