The Great ShakeOut is an annual event that helps to educate and prepare communities for an earthquake. During the Great ShakeOut, participants will simulate actions to be taken during an actual earthquake. It only takes a few minutes to participate, and practicing “drop, cover, and hold on” can help you survive and recover from an actual earthquake.
More than 9.6 million people in California and more than 20 million people worldwide are expected to take part in the Great ShakeOut at 10:17 a.m.
