Forget Scooters, Meet the LimeGlider

Forget scooters.   The newest innovations from Lime were officially introduced today in a dozen cities around the globe including Los Angeles.    Meet the LimeGlider.

The LimeGlider has no pedals.   It is being billed as “our newest seated electric vehicle and our most inclusive design to date.  With footrests in place of pedals and effortless throttle-powered movement, it offers a simple “sit and go” experience that makes every ride smooth and approachable.”

The LimeGlider has been selected as one Time Magazine Best Innovations of 2025.

Per Time:  “When Lime set out to make a new product to add to its fleets of e-bikes and scooters, it turned to customers for ideas. Feedback pointed to something “bike-like with a big, cushy, motorcycle-style seat,” and a throttle, rather than pedals, according to Lime’s president, Joe Kraus. The result, the LimeGlider, is a micromobility device that looks “like an e-bike and a moped had a baby.” The Glider has 20-inch wheels and a low step-through height, so customers in skirts can ride comfortably. The gliders rolled out in cities around the world this summer.”

These addition of LimeGlider, and LimeBike to the LimeScooter collection present another mode of transportation to the complex urban landscape.    The company plans an initial rollout of 10,000 LimeGliders through the remainder of 2025 and 2026.

Lime is a privately held company.   Major investors include Uber which owns almost 30% of the company.  There are indications that the company is planning a public offering in the next twelve months.

Well, here’s some evidence to back up everyone’s intuition that the e-scooter/bike schemes are a catalyst for increasing crime and lowering quality of life

why do so-called progressives push these on the populace? They are terrible. They block sidewalks and the punks use them on sidewalks.

They are a nuisance in that they can be parked (abandoned) anywhere. And too many times it’s right in the middle of a sidewalk, or even a driveway. Lime and the city need to find a solution for this. Even the delivery robots are unhappy about it.

I wonder who the first person to be killed on one of these will be and if they will paint the glider they died on white.

My friend was hit by a sccoter on the sidewalk last Wednesday. He was knocked to the ground and received a deep gash that bled. He ultimately went to the hospital to get it closed up. Multiple times over the last few weeks, in the small area that I walk around, sidewalks blocked by either the bikes or the scooters. I have mobility issues. I’m not strong enough to move them. I shouldn’t have to. On top of that, the overgrown vegetation blocking the sidewalks is ridiculous. It is an illegal taking of public space by landlords. Vive LA owns… Read more »

Yet another device to impede our access to our sideWALKS! BTW, why do they even call them that anymore? Where is the ADA access?. I hope they don’t come to West Hollywood, but knowing our city council majority, if they can make a buck, these things will be here! Chelsea Byers and council member Danny Hang (who voted for scooters while he was still on the disabilities advisory board,) came to the DAB special award ceremony on Wednesday and talked about how the city does everything they can to help people living with disabilities. They CONVENIENTLY didn’t mention that they… Read more »

They will prioritize a few bucks in revenue to spend on prom committee items like skating rinks over resident safety every single time. Hanger-on Hang and Buzzword Byers join histrionic buffoon Erickson in raping our town for their political agendas that put us all at risk. Shame.

What we are seeing is the effects of no political competition. One party rule will only produce candidates that go in favor of the party. The scooter and ebike Lobby goes right to the top and so everybody on down let these companies have their way. You can’t get an endorsement and party affiliation if you go against the scooter and bike companies. That’s why things get worse and not better. Corruption is local. We need political diversity.

Come on now. Can’t we just go back to making rollerskates popular again? It was less dangerous and more fun.
