If you are looking for free Thanksgiving meals West Hollywood residents can actually get to without spending half the day in traffic, there are real options close to home this week. Some are one day events. Others are year round food programs the City supports.

Whether you are trying to line up a meal for yourself, checking on a friend or neighbor, or helping a client get connected, this roundup focuses on places that are free or low cost and within a reasonable trip from West Hollywood. Always check websites or call before heading out, since hours can change around the holiday.

Hollywood Food Coalition Thanksgiving dinner at Television City

The closest big holiday meal is Hollywood Food Coalition’s Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner, held this year on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Television City, 7800 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, 90036, at Beverly and Fairfax.

The organization says the lunch is designed for about 300 community members experiencing homelessness or food insecurity, with a seated turkey meal and all the fixings, live music and volunteers creating more of a restaurant feel than a line.

Television City is a short trip from West Hollywood by car or rideshare. For the most current details on arrival times or any check in process, residents should visit the Hollywood Food Coalition website or call the organization directly.

Nightly community dinner, 365 days a year

If you cannot make the daytime event, the Hollywood Food Coalition Community Dinner serves a hot meal every night of the year, rain or shine.

Dinner is served from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the Salvation Army Hollywood Campus at 5939 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, 90028. It is roughly a straight shot east of West Hollywood along Hollywood Boulevard.

The group says anyone in need of a hot, nutritious meal is welcome, with no documentation required.

Westside Thanksgiving community dinner in West LA

For a larger holiday event, the long running Westside Thanksgiving celebration takes place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the West Los Angeles Civic Center, 1645 Corinth Ave., Los Angeles, 90025, about 20 to 30 minutes from West Hollywood by car.

The Westside Thanksgiving Celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center plaza. Dinner is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the clothing area opens at 9 a.m. so people can pick up warm layers and basics before they eat.

Organizers say the event is open to everyone and no reservations are required, with guests including students, singles, low income families, seniors, unhoused neighbors and anyone else who needs a place to be on Thanksgiving Day.

The site usually offers a sit down turkey dinner, a large selection of free clothing, a mercado style area to pick up groceries and live music. If you go, it helps to bring a reusable bag for clothing or groceries and to arrive earlier in the day if you can.

Seeds of Hope Thanksgiving Feast at St. Paul’s Commons

Seeds of Hope, which already runs free produce distributions in West Hollywood, is also hosting an annual Thanksgiving Feast at St. Paul’s Commons in Echo Park.

The Seeds of Hope Thanksgiving Feast is scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is expected to serve about 500 free, hot Thanksgiving meals to the community. The meal is a collaboration with St. Athanasius Episcopal Church, Nefesh, Immaculate Heart Community and other partners, and is open to anyone who needs a place to share a holiday plate.

St. Paul’s Commons is located at 840 Echo Park Ave., Los Angeles, 90026, overlooking Echo Park Lake. It is a manageable drive from West Hollywood. Residents can find updates on the Seeds of Hope site or by checking St. Paul’s and partner pages.

Seeds of Hope notes that the feast relies heavily on volunteers for food preparation and serving, with prep shifts running earlier in the week from November 24 to 27 and additional shifts on the day of the event. For those who missed the chance to volunteer this year, the organization is also adding new food distributions at other Los Angeles locations in November, which are listed on its food distributions page.

Jewish Family Service, senior lunches and SOVA pop up pantry

Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles runs several food programs that serve West Hollywood.

  • Senior Nutrition Program, Plummer Park Community Center
    • Hot lunches Monday through Friday around midday for older adults and people living with disabilities who live or work in West Hollywood.
    • There is usually a suggested donation for those who can afford it, but program materials say no one is turned away for lack of funds.
  • JFS SOVA Pop Up Pantry, Plummer Park
    • Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to noon, geared toward unhoused residents.
    • The pop up focuses on ready to eat items, toiletries and groceries that do not require kitchen access.

Project Angel Food’s home delivered Thanksgiving meals

For residents living with serious illness, Project Angel Food provides medically tailored meals delivered to the home. In partnership with the City, the nonprofit serves people living with HIV or AIDS and other life threatening conditions across Los Angeles County, including West Hollywood.

On Thanksgiving Day, Project Angel Food says more than 200 volunteers, celebrities and staff members will begin gathering before sunrise at the organization’s kitchen at 922 Vine St., Los Angeles, 90038. They will prepare thousands of traditional turkey dinners, with green beans, potatoes, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Once the meals are packed, they are loaded into cars and vans and delivered with, as the group describes it, love and kindness to critically ill men, women and children in communities across roughly 4,700 square miles of Los Angeles County.

Clients already enrolled in Project Angel Food’s program receive these meals automatically as part of their medically tailored deliveries. People who think they might qualify can learn more or start an intake by visiting angelfood.org or by calling the agency.

Food vouchers and groceries through World Harvest Food Bank

The City also partners with World Harvest Food Bank to offer grocery support.

World Harvest operates a community grocery style food bank at 3100 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, 90019, where households can receive a large selection of fresh produce, proteins and pantry staples for a low donation or fee. Through the West Hollywood Food Voucher Program, eligible residents, workers, students and unhoused neighbors in West Hollywood can receive food vouchers to shop there up to three times in a 12 month period.

People can learn more or apply online through the West Hollywood voucher information on the World Harvest Food Bank site or by contacting the City’s Human Services Division.

If the programs listed above do not work for you, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has an online map of pantries and meal sites across the county, including spots not far from West Hollywood. You type in a ZIP code and it pulls up locations, hours and contact information.

People who are still not sure where to begin can also call the City’s Human Services Division at (323) 848-6510 or email WeHoCares@weho.org and ask to talk with someone about food help. You can be calling for yourself, for a neighbor or for a client. The idea is simple, you do not have to figure this out alone – we are a community.
