“Beloved Sam” | Queerblick
I enjoy watching short films, not just from here in the US, but also ones that depict a different culture and country. (“Beloved Sam” is produced by Queerblick, a charitable organization based in Germany whose aim is to empower LGBT teenagers with its videos.) The film introduces us to David, who took a big step to visit a LGBT youth group. But he doesn’t regret it because that’s how he met Sam, a boy that he loves but can’t be together with. Even in another country it is hard to be out and proud for a lot of LGBT young people who are scared to tell their families who they really are. This touching film features a beautiful love letter in which David pours his heart out to Sam. I like that the film mixes languages to give a look from David’s perspective. You will enjoy this video. “Daddyhunt: The Serial”, Season 2, Part 1
I love it when apps, movies and other brands use videos and skits to promote themselves. Daddyhunt is the first gay dating and social networking app that is designed specifically for Daddies and those who love them. As part of a promotion for the app (which also is known as “Mr X”), it started a miniseries about a guy who meets a sexy Daddy after he moves into his apartment (Season 1). Then, after some miscommunication, each doesn’t think the other is interested. But the Season 1 ends on a high note, leaving you crying to know what happens. Then we come to Season 2, where it seems the boy and Daddy finally are going to be “getting together” (wink, wink). But then of course something happens to mess it up. Sadly, this not too far from reality (as the video shows, you shouldn’t let your friends talk you into stupid ideas). Watch [/half_last]

Short Film: “Once Upon a Zipper”
I was looking through my suggested feed on YouTube when this short film popped up. I always worry when I see LGBT love story films because too many times the ending is depressing. However, I loved this short and was pleasantly engaged the entire time. It’s a story of a girl looking for a wedding dress for her wedding who instead finds the girl of her dreams. It is a super cute short about how we sometimes go with what everyone else wants us to do and live the life they choose for us. Instead, these girls break all norms and find that true love is possible and that being a lesbian (or LGBT in general) is perfectly normal. You will go “awe” as you watch and see that everyone deserves their true happy ever after. Watch [/half_last]

“Untucked: RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 9 Episode 1 “Oh. My. Gaga.”
As most of you all know on Friday last week “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 9 premiered on VH1 and OMG it had us all gagging for Gaga! I had so much fun watching that first episode, but what I also really love is all the backstage “T” that gets dished on “Untucked.” The queens talk about the runway, their different looks, who they feel is on the top or bottom. We some interesting stuff about their first impressions of one another. “Love.Life” Episode 4- “Status No”
This YouTube series was done by a friend of mine, Tim Rathke. “Love.Life” is an interesting and pretty accurate description of the gay man’s journey here in WeHo. This series is a gay-themed dramedy about these guys and their personal journeys to find the meanings of life, love, and friendship. I love that it is set in West Hollywood/L.A. and shows how they face the hardships and triumphs of self-discovery. Couples becoming ex-es, then friends, and dating porn stars and so much more. ‘PRETTY BOY’ Award Winning LGBT Short Film (2017)
I am always looking on YouTube for fun LGBT short films that are entertaining but whose true message is about someone finding his or her identity. This short film is the coming of age story of a young bullied teen, Sean, struggling with his sexuality and the hardships of high school. After his father finds some questionable magazines in his room, that devout Christian will go to any lengths to get his son “to find the light” and become a “real man.” For Sean’s 18th birthday his father gets him a night with Katie, a prostitute, who helps him see the true light within him. These types of films strike home with me because I had a very similar story of religious parents who tried to “fix me,” sent me to straight camp, tried to “pray the gay” away and ultimately disowned me. Even though we live in such a progressive state and city, we need to not forget that there are kids faced with this struggle every day. We need to be the ones who can help them find the strength to be who they are. Watch [/half_last]

“This is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous”
I really can’t say enough about this documentary other than the description with the video below. However, this is such an amazing and powerful story that will give you some amazing insight and understanding into how one young boy’s discovery of who he really was transformed him into the woman she is today. It’s a beautiful message of love, family, struggle, identity and strength, a must-see documentary.
