We have all done this — wander back down memory lane on our Facebook pages, recalling “When We Were Young” by Adele. LOL. I loved watching Tyler Oakley react to some of his old posts and see the laughs, cringes and fond memories that came up. There are some in here where he was like, “WTF? why did I do that,” or “What was I thinking?” So many people can easily relate to what he is talking about, I mean, I know I can. This video made me do a little flash back to my old photos. Some of the ones that I saw left me asking “What the hell was I thinking?” and how did I ever think that was cool? This unexpected treat is a behind-the-scenes view of what a diving tournament looks like and also a peak into the competitive life of Tom Daley, fiancé of Dustin Lance Black, the American film screenwriter, director and producer. In this episode Tom shows how he wins three bronze medals at the third leg of the Fina Diving World Series in Kazan, Russia. I always find it intriguing how professional athletes get prepared for tournaments — there is a lot of preparation and training that goes into it. It may look easy because Tom rocks at it, but as you see on this video, so many little things could happen that don’t always get you the perfect results. However, bronze is nothing to scoff at! This is a touching interview in which Davey Wavey interviews a man who came out publicly as gay after 90 years of knowing he was gay. This is truly a testament to the value of coming out, no matter how old, how young or how hard it can be for others to truly understand who they are. Roman’s story is one we don’t often hear today. He knew he was gay when he was five. He had a wife and two kids. But that was during a time when he couldn’t come out and be open like we can today. Too often we see men and women like Roman who were pushed into pretending because of family, culture, religion or so many other reasons. I find it uplifting that there are still people who are finding the courage every day to let the world know they are here, they are Queer and they are here to stay. *Snap, snap snap*.
