Gelati Opens on Santa Monica Blvd

GELATI, a new dessert destination, has arrived at 8603 Santa Monica Boulevard with a splash of color—and flavor, marking its debut with balloon arches, neon lighting, and a celebration of sweet and creamy indulgence.

Owner Alex, whose roots trace back to Italy through his grandmother’s heritage, said the gelato is imported directly from the country, chosen with help from his family’s connections. The emphasis here is on real ingredients and bold flavors — not sugar overload. In fact, although this gelato had 60% less sugar than regular ice cream, many would say it has 100% more taste. One scoop of the pistachio gelato, subtly hued in natural green-brown tones, makes that point clear.

Inside, customers can choose from a rainbow of gelato flavors or opt for creative plated desserts like crepes, waffles and cakes. The space itself is as cheerful as its menu — bright yellow walls, a glowing “Good Vibes Only” sign, and colorful seating indoors and out.

Gelati takes over the space formerly occupied by RioZonas Acai, continuing the location’s legacy as a neighborhood sweet spot.

I love gelato.
I wish them tremendous success.

And, btw, Talenti makes great stuff, available at your local grocery store.

It’s yummy. It’s welcome. I love gelato more than I love ice cream, and Gelati’s gelato is delicious and authentically Italian.

As a close neighbor, alas, I don’t partake of the neighborhood’s quick-food offerings. As a patron of the big gym across the street, I try to avoid my personal craving for gelato. Sorry, Gelati.

It would likely do better business nearer the bars. But at least it’s got the pot store on the very same block. I wish them well, though I’m not likely to a top customer.

Buildout looks so outdated. I really hope the city STOPS with allowing all the yogurt, ice cream and now gelato places from opening..to many of them imo.

It’s none of the city’s business how many ice cream shops there are. Nor yours. Typical negative comment. If you don’t like it don’t patronize them. It’s called a free market.

Also, gelato is neither ice cream nor frozen yogurt.
