WeHo’s Greasy Sidewalks Sunday Special

Sunday morning the sidewalks in front of the BlockParty store had a greasy spin. Across the sidewalks and curb lay the residue of the illegal hot dog carts that cluttered the streets the night before.

Leftover raw hot dogs and grease poured onto the street and curdled along the curb. In the front sidewalk area a slip zone welcomed guests Sunday morning.

The slip zone extended out from the tree into the gutter and lined the sidewalk. Director of Public Works, Helen Collins responded quickly to a call for service and a team was sent out within the hour.

The City of West Hollywood staff was busy cleaning up the sidewalks from the grease and grime of the hot dog vendors the night before. A super-absorbent bio-remediation powder was spread across the sidewalk until it was safe for pedestrians to walk.

Illegal street vendors continue to cause chaos on streets and sidewalks during weekend nights and major events. Councilmember Danny Hang brought forward an initiative asking city staff to come back with recommendations but that item was tabled after resistance from Councilmember Erickson and Mayor Byers. Meanwhile, Mid City and the east side of West Hollywood has never had their sidewalks cleaned and Drug addled loonies are wandering around and use the sidewalks as a toilet. Between the dogs and the zombies, the place stinks. The rain helps. I’m still waiting for them to refund the parking money.… Read more »

Is it any wonder that Los Angeles (and I include Weho in that) has become the rat capitol of the world. We have surpassed NYC as the city with the most rats. I think allowing unregulated street venders to cook up anything on the streets is directly related to the increase in rats.

The West Hollywood voters have spoken. They chose a non-law and order Council. Again, you get what you ask for.

This is disgusting and the council needs to clean up this issue. In fact, THEY should haul ass down there on the weekend and see the nightmare for themselves, instead of burying their heads in the sand. That powder is likely toxic to dogs, who then lick their paws 🤦🏻‍♂️
