ICE agents swept into West Hollywood at the Santa Palm Car Wash located at Palm Ave. and removed two or three of the staff at around 11:30 am on July 4th morning. The car wash closed immediately.
Other employees fled the scene. Two cars, one F150, and another Jeep Cherokee pulled into the car wash and immediately sought to round up the employees at random. No questions were asked.
The manager/owner of the Santa Palm Car Wash can be seen behind the door and confirmed that the car wash shut down after the raid. “I don’t want to talk now we are trying to locate our employees,” he said.

Good. Get the illegals out. You want affordable housing? Deport illegals. You want lower crime? Deport illegals. You want higher employment? Deport illegals. You want better wages and a more balanced cost of living? Deport illegals. And dismantle the NGOs and governments enabling illegal alien slavery.
It’s deeply troubling to see ICE conduct raids like this in West Hollywood. The quick shutdown of the car wash and the panic among employees show how disruptive and traumatic these operations are for immigrant workers and their communities. West Hollywood often speaks out against ICE, but incidents like this reveal a gap between words and real protections. When ICE can show up unannounced and remove workers without cause or due process, it raises serious questions about what sanctuary really means here. The City needs to move beyond statements and create real support systems—like legal aid, rapid response teams, and… Read more »
Lost in your concern…..is any respect for the rule of law. I guess in a lawless city like LA you get used to it.
This is one of those 80/20 issues nationally. And cities like WH are in the 20% camp.
I’m sorry, when you enter a country illegally, you have to expect that at some point that things might catch up to you. I understand that for years the law wasn’t enforced, but still, you have to know at some point you might get caught.
It’s about prioritized, targeted deportations, not random, racism-based Gestapo tactics.
Most of the people coming here are from the budget Americas, not Syria or Nepal or Poland. Proximity, and all that.
You’re insistent in your repetitive harp about “illegals” – what do you actually know about the status of these people cleaning cars? Has it not registered in your narrow view that legal immigrants are being deported? Do you realize that CA “immigrants” are participating in the billions to our economy? Can you stop repeating lies because they conveniently confer your dislike against “them”… What would happen if masked, camouflage armed men in unmarked car march into a bank or the four seasons hotel…? Is that okay with you? We’re not reliving 1930 Germany!… or are we?
If you’re here legally and can’t speak English, and aren’t even putting in the effort to learn, you can also go. But they’re not here legally.
@Ham
It’s obvious that you have a deranged syndrome. How many businesses should be shut down…and that’s not on immigrants, it’s on poor government policy.
Prepared to pay many more dollars to deny immigrants to work?
For that matter, are you an Indigenous American, or just embracing your racism?
It is very upsetting and the policies are disruptive and cruel.
Not sure what the city is doing, but there seems to be many people/groups helping the immigrants.
No, “the panic among employees” shows how guilty they are of breaking our laws… maybe “disrupive and traumatic” enough for them to hot-foot back over the southern border.
Until you become a person of color and know that being brown is going to get you arrested for nothing but the color of your skin, you have NO room to make any type of judgment. Just for your reference to the southern border comment, did you even bother to educate yourself knowing where all these workers are from? I didnt thing so. Your privilege is showing and it’s not cute.
The bigger question is, why is this business making its employees work on a Federal national holiday?
The employees quite possibly don’t celebrate the 4th of July & firecrackers ain’t their bag. Earning the money on that day is very important for them, as I’m sure it is to millions of others who work on that day. ..
I work for the largest retailer in the world. The reason we were open is because…THAT’S WHEN PEOPLE SHOP.
Common sense would help you.
Mom and Pop businesses can decide on their own if they want to be open or not Most chain restaurants are open every day but Christmas. Same with gas stations.⛽️
Jerome Clearly owns his own marketing company and does not have to work. Not everybody is rich like him. Some people have to work. I bet he does his work on holidays but he’s an elitist.
Former President Barack Obama formally removed 3 million noncitizens from the U.S. over two terms – more than any other president in American history, according to data from the Department of Homeland Security.
In comparison, President George Bush removed about 870,000 people; Bill Clinton, about 2 million; and Donald Trump about 1.2 million people during his first term.
Data shows Obama’s administration removed about 3 million noncitizen, the highest total among recent presidents. However, his team prioritized deporting those with serious criminal convictions or public safety threats, following a policy of targeted enforcement. In contrast, the Trump administration broadened immigration enforcement with mass arrests and deportations, often regardless of criminal history, which has sparked significant controversy. At the same time, they appeared more lenient toward certain groups, like white South Africans, allowing them entry without issue. This selective approach reveals the political and racial biases underlying enforcement decisions. So, simply comparing raw deportation numbers without context is like… Read more »
Yup. But now everyone is losing their sh*t. Please. Give me a break.
He’s backtracked on farm workers and hotel workers (which he needs for his personal properties and investments) so why not other jobs Americans won’t take???
This is a little more jolting than seeing these heinous raids only blocks away, than seeing it in other states, or even in Orange County. It’s like an anachronism, misplaced in time, that we thought could never happen in this country again. Trump has a history of being a racist & a bigot, a mindset he inherited from his racist father & this is his chance to order anyone & everyone with dark skin deported. Kind of like the Hitler formula for “purifying” the white race. It’ breaks my heart to see how rough & unnecessarily abusive these big men… Read more »
Do you have any citations to share? I hadn’t heard that, but nothing would surprise me. There are around 1499 people, left, although a few additional perps were rearrested again, and one just got a long sentence.
TDS.
that makes me sick to
my stomach. that MF steve miller gave a mandate of 3000 arrests. makes me want to cry
I thought the “priority” of the Trump fascists was all the “rapists, drug dealers and murderers Mexico is (supposedly) sending”. I hardly think the guy wiping down a local’s Range Rover’s windows, for a $1 tip, is the big threat to the populace.
Ummm, try to illegally to enter any other country in the world. FAFO. Doesn’t work, you’ll be screwed. No one has any idea about the backgrounds of these illegals. The law speaks.
Most of their backgrounds are hard working people!
Who broke our nation’s law. They can remain hard working people in their own countries,…..and make a difference there. If they really want to live in the US…..they can apply legally. The American people have spoken. No more lawlessness.
I agree — lawlessness is a problem. But it’s not just about immigration. The law should apply to all groups, including political leaders Unfortunately for many migrants, going home isn’t safe or even possible. The legal immigration system is slow and broken. We actually had a bipartisan fix ready but it was blocked for political reasons sadly Many immigrants are trying to follow the law and process by showing up for their scheduled appointments only to be intercepted at the courthouse by ICE We can have both compassion and secure borders — it doesn’t have to be one or the… Read more »
I don’t remember hearing this view….while Obama deported over 5 million. Must have missed all the sad stories.
Just emotionally reacting to the law being enforced again.
Obama’s administration removed about 3 million people, mostly focusing on those with serious criminal records. The approach under Trump is very different—broader enforcement that includes many without crimes, even some showing up for their legally approved immigration hearings. So it’s not just about “law being enforced” but how it’s enforced and who’s targeted. Context matters.
Obama oversaw approximately 5,248,413 returns and removals of illegal migrants during his eight years in office, according to data collected by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
From 2009 to 2012, Obama’s DHS carried out approximately 3,175,696 returns and removals in his first term alone.
Obama sent most people back at the border. (Returns as you mention)
Trump sent ICE into homes, separated families, went into schools, bus stops and jobs. (Car Washes and agriculture fields for example)
Same laws, very different playbook. That’s why you didn’t see the same reaction under Obama
Indeed, if your facts are all correct.
So says MSNBC. Give me a break. Law enforcement is law enforcement. You don’t get to choose how, what, when the law is enforced. You break the law, you know you’re taking a risk. When it catches up to you, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Obama deported far more. No hysterical outbursts, no protests then. But when Trump enforces the law, they lose their sh*t. Lol. So ridiculous. You cannot just enter a country illegally and expect to get ”free” healthcare, “free” education for your children. Give me a break.
Don’t worry, Ham, Trump’s bill that just got passed will eliminate healthcare for everyone, among other things. And if you, and others commenting like you, think the law is so important, why are you supporting a person who pardoned all the J6 felons and is a criminal himself. Why does he get a pass?
This conversation is about “illegal immigration” Francis. Try to be less emotional.
True. They have no idea.
