A Little Christmas Now — Even in July (Because It’s WeHo)

Did you know?

  • Legendary composer Jerry Herman, who wrote “We Need a Little Christmas,” was a proud West Hollywood resident.
  • So was the equally legendary Angela Lansbury, who sang it on Broadway in Mame.

  • And yes, Johnny Mathis, the velvet voice of holiday playlists everywhere, sang it next — and he’s one of us, too.

If you’re like me (and Johnny) and live Jerry’s lyrics year-round — we need a little Christmas now — then you’re in luck.

Because guess what?

West Hollywood just gave Santa a temporary shelter voucher.

And in true WeHo style, Santa is paying it forward.

Here’s the deal:

Anyone in West Hollywood who writes to Santa — care of the City Council — will have their holiday wishes considered by our very own council members

? So I’m going first.

Dear Santa in WeHo,

I’m old, but I still believe in you; can you ask WeHo for a few things for me?

A cool car club or a Concours d’Elegance like the one in Beverly Hills.

Some Signage & Billboard Regulations, like those in Palm Springs or Beverly Hills?

Some Timed Street Lights that work? Better Art at Doheny & Santa Monica?

More Handicap parking? Request Uber Driver get tickets for stopping on Santa Monica Blvd.

And please stop giving all our evening parking away to Valet companies. Clean and make our Rainbow sidewalks sparkle again. And make the City Council listen and hear all the wishes from the good people of WeHo, like everyone reading this….

Your Jewish Pal,

Joel

Now it’s your turn:

Send your wish list to:

Santa c/o City Council

8300 Santa Monica Blvd

West Hollywood, CA 90069

Whether it’s cleaner sidewalks, rainbow crosswalk touch-ups, or a unicorn-friendly zoning ordinance — Santa’s listening.

(Hey, he’s got time until December.)
