The inaugural LYNX Lesbian Short Films Fest will debut on August 9, 2025, at the Frida Kahlo Theater in Central LA, inviting filmmakers globally to submit short films. Submissions are accepted until July 19, 2025, with the process beginning June 11.
The festival seeks entries that highlight lesbian narratives, with a particular emphasis on stories featuring BIPOC lesbian characters—encompassing cis, trans, and non-binary identities. “We created LYNX to carve out a space where lesbian stories—especially those from communities often pushed to the margins—can thrive, connect, and be seen,” said Cin Rivera, co-founder of the LYNX Festival. “This festival is for us, by us.” Films, limited to 20 minutes, may span any genre, provided they align with the event’s focus on lesbian visibility, ideally with a BIPOC lesbian lead or production team member.
Organizers plan to select 8–10 films for a live screening, aiming to showcase diverse lesbian perspectives often overlooked by mainstream platforms. The judging panel includes Alex Banx, Cin Rivera, and Liz Jaime, each bringing expertise in art, writing, and visual storytelling.
Submissions are open to all filmmakers, with details available at lynxforlesbians.com. For inquiries, contact lynxforlesbians@gmail.com.
