One of West Hollywood’s most beloved Tex-Mex destinations is bringing back a longtime favorite tradition. Beginning Friday, October 3, at 11:30 a.m., Marix Tex Mex Café will once again offer weekend lunch service —something regulars have been eagerly waiting for since the restaurant reopened this summer. We caught up with General Manager, Mark Farrell, who confirmed the long wait was indeed finally over! In an otherwise nutty world, at least one thing feels on track.
Marix, located at 1108 N. Flores Street, West Hollywood, CA 90069, has always been a neighborhood go-to for its festive brunches, “Kick-Ass” happy hours, and dependable lunch service. But since reopening on July 8—after being shuttered since the pandemic—the restaurant has only offered dinner service as it worked to rebuild staff and operations.
Now, with its team in place and the kitchen running full steam, Mark told WeHoOnline the iconic eatery is ready to welcome back the weekend lunch and brunch crowds — Friday thru Sunday. Fans can expect all the Marix staples they know and love: sizzling fajitas, enchiladas, tasty tacos, and those iconic margaritas that have long made Marix a WeHo tradition.
For locals and longtime patrons, the return of lunch isn’t just about convenience—it’s about tradition. Marix has been the backdrop for countless midday meetups, work lunches, and casual neighborhood gatherings for decades. As one enthusiastic diner and long time patron (me) can attest, the return of lunch is cause for celebration.
I stopped by just after lunch on Friday, and the scene was exactly what you’d hope for: the energy, the music, and the service all back in fine form. At a nearby table, I overheard a diner tell his server, “people have been waiting five years for this.” He wasn’t wrong.
While I’ll never turn down a classic fajita dinner, some of my fondest Marix memories come from a great Friday lunch that stretched into the afternoon and felt like the true start of the weekend.
At a time when so many longtime West Hollywood businesses have closed their doors for good, seeing an iconic institution like Marix make its comeback is more than welcome—it’s reassuring. This is one return the neighborhood has been hungry for.

They should open up adding flavor to their dishes and learn how to make a margarita.
I hate to say it but you’re not wrong at all. If they want to survive, they need to up their game given all the Mexican restaurants between Flores and Fairfax.
And it sounds like you should go to Javier’s in Century City, because NO ONE comes to Marix for culinary cuisine and mixologist margaritas.
