West Hollywood’s longtime favorite, Marix Tex Mex Café, is officially reopening its doors tomorrow, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 5 p.m. Located at 1108 Flores Street, the beloved Mexican eatery gave neighbors a sneak peek last week with a free meal event designed to train staff and prepare for its grand reopening.
Guests at the preview enjoyed a limited menu featuring classic street tacos, quesadillas, queso, guacamole and chips — all complemented by the return of the restaurant’s famous Kickass Margaritas.
Hiring for the reopening began in May, filling both full- and part-time positions across front and back-of-house roles including servers, bartenders, managers, supervisors, cooks, and dishwashers.
Though the restaurant had been presumed closed permanently — even listed as shuttered by a local blog and memorialized with a tombstone from the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as part of the pandemic’s casualty list — the owners quietly never confirmed closure or reopening plans during the hiatus.
Hints of Marix’s revival surfaced over recent months with a new neon sign, renovations, and visible hiring activity. Now the wait is over: Marix Tex Mex Café is back, ready to serve the community with its signature blend of Tex-Mex flavors and a side of nostalgia.
This reopening marks a fresh chapter for Marix and for West Hollywood’s dining scene, bringing back a cherished local gem that many thought was gone for good.
Yay Marix is back, but it’s not the same. The chicken is dry AF and the kickass margarita wasn’t as kickass as they’ve been in the past, it actually tasted watered down, Costco has stronger margaritas in a 1.75 liter bottle for $10. Our waiter kept referring to a table of ladies as guys. Bring back the old chef. 6/10.
This story is a shameless and lazy and obvious ChatGPT copy and paste from a story I read in wehotimes.com.
totally agree, this is a lazy non-story.
The extra long em-dashes give it away EVERY time.
Hey, Marix opened yesterday. You got the date right, but the story is running a day late.
