West Hollywood will mark the 42nd annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, with community gatherings across the city to promote unity against crime. The evening will feature free block parties, barbecues, live entertainment, and other activities, coordinated with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and city officials.
Since its inception in 1984, National Night Out has aimed to foster crime prevention, strengthen law enforcement ties, and build neighborhood camaraderie. Nationwide, over 35 million people participate in similar events. In West Hollywood, the tradition has continued since the city’s incorporation, involving City Council members, Neighborhood Watch groups, the West Hollywood Gateway, the Public Safety Commission, Russian-Speaking Advisory Board, and Recreation Services Division.
