Meister, Heilman Organize No Kings West Hollywood Rally for March 28

Councilmember Lauren Meister, Debbie Meister, and Mayor John Heilman are organizing a No Kings West Hollywood rally at West Hollywood Park on Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Councilmember Lauren Meister told WEHOonline, “Donald J. Trump, who seems to think he should be king, is defying our institutions and ignoring his oath to the Constitution. This country needs to reverse course, and the way we do that is to exercise our right to protest and our right to vote. The future of this country depends on it. I hope Wehoans will join us as we peacefully but passionately rally for our democracy.”

RSVP at mobilize.us/nokings/event/912242. The gathering will be on the San Vicente side of the park, across from the Pacific Design Center. Many of the same guest speakers from last year are expected to return.

West Hollywood has done this twice already. Thousands showed up at West Hollywood Park in June 2025 for a rally that Meister put together with her sister Debbie. Then in October, locals got frustrated that nobody had organized anything for No Kings II and pulled together their own rally at Santa Monica and San Vicente. About 100 to 150 people came. Meister showed up with a bullhorn anyway.

“We’re all protesting a president who wants to be king,” Meister told WEHOonline that day. “There are no kings in America. That’s why we have the Constitution, that’s why they had the tea party, and we cannot forget history.”

March 28 is the third national No Kings day of action. The coalition behind it includes Indivisible, the ACLU, MoveOn, SEIU, the Human Rights Campaign, and others. The June 2025 mobilization drew five million people. October drew seven million across more than 2,700 events in all 50 states. Organizers say they’re expecting this one to be bigger. More than 2,200 events are already on the books nationwide. All of them operate under a nonviolence policy with de-escalation leads at each site.

The state of California is in free fall . It’s like an experiment gone bad.

“What if we took the most beautiful state…..and gave it a D Party supermajority. Allowed them to implement every dream wishlist policy….and see what happens”.

Do these people have nothing better to do for the basic quality of life instead of this useless grandstanding. West Hollywood streets are not even safe to walk and they are busy pretending to be Congress.

No we don’t. The basis of our Constitution and Bill of Rights is a common thread of individual rights and the practice of free speech. You can bemoan anything you want. The rest of us will exercise our right to free speech and assembly until our last damn right is taken from us. And if we sit silently and do nothing that will be exactly what happens sooner than later. And I expect that no matter what, you’ll still be bitching and loaning, Ida.
