OpEd: What They Love About Donald Trump

It’s Election Day.   Donald Trump is in the White House.   The government is shut down.  Trump bulldozed the entire east wing of the White House overnight.  He’s only been back in Washington DC for nine months and the sequel is turning into nightmares for so many.  ICE raids in local communities have left us with heart breaking images and lives changed forever.   Trump and the elephants on the red team have control all three branches of government.   How the f**k did we get here?

First, let me say I did not vote for Trump, and never voted for the asshole in any election.  My mom did, (in her head cause she didn’t actually vote).   She would say, ‘he’s only kidding’, and it would drive me crazy.  My biggest regret when she passed was the day after Trump was elected in 2016.  I was in Cedars with a scheduled surgery and she came to be with me.   She said ‘Trump’ and I sent her home.   I regret that day.

Is there anything to like about Donald Trump?

Trump is fighting to bring jobs back to the USA –  Thats not a bad thing.  Hard to imagine Dems being against that plan.    It’s right out of the Democratic playbook.

Inflation is down.   Interest rates are down.  The stock market seems to be doing well.  That’s good for employees, seniors, pensions and investments.    Thats good right?

Despite saying very stupid things he talks in complete sentences.   It’s a big contrast to the previous president.    And I was glad to support Joe Biden twice.

Trump gets credit for ending war in Gaza.  It was an impressive use of American leadership on the global stage.   He is going to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026.

Lower taxes,  fast forward depreciation to spur business investment-   He understands the business world and those are not democrat or republican taxes – they are taxes on people.

Man is constantly hamming it up and showing off.  He seems to be visible on a daily basis.  He’s a show. Hard to keep up with what country he is in.   I’m just waiting to watch him faint like Hillary, or trip down the steps like Biden.   But not yet.

Is Trump anti-gay?  Trump appointed the 1st openly gay Secretary of the Treasury in Scott Bessent.   An openly gay guy has his signature on the American dollar for the first time in history.   Finally, you can say, ‘gay as a 3 dollar bill’ and it’s real.   He just pardoned George Santos, another queer.  I don’t think he wants to lock up all the queers.

Trump played basketball, football and soccer at the military academy.   Even with the bone spurs.   Every one of those sports is going to teach you the concept of the ‘head fake’, ‘the stop and go’, the ‘scissor’  – he is still running the same plays, – and it keeps the Dems chomping at the bait hysterically.

Its hard to grow up on the streets of New York and not get used to conflict.  Conflict is part of resolution.  If you don’t engage you can’t solve the problems.

If we talk about how we got here, with the ‘King’ back in office, the Dems blew it.  Remember that Trump ad – she’s for – they- them, and I’m for you?   Do you know your pronouns?  How many sexes are there?   If you can’t answer those questions then you know how we got here.  Trump won a free and fair election, and went through a primary process.   We can’t say the same for Kamala Harris.   She was crowned Queen.   It did not work out.

The Chuck, Nancy and Bernie crowd are bishops.  All we have is Prince Gavin.   You got to love Prince Gavin.   He used 400 million California taxpayer dollars to launch his campaign for the White House.  The Stick it to Trump campaign may win… but if our best idea is their bad idea its no win.   Maybe for Gavin.

We are better off with Lindsey Horvath as President.  She knew how to outsmart all the big boys.   When Gavin endorsed Bob Hertzberg in his bid for Los Angeles County Supervisor, Horvath pulled a fast one getting Newsome’s wife to endorse her.

This election day- make your voice heard.

The list of Trump’s accomplishments is absolutely amazing! No president has endured the adversity he has, and a lesser man would have quit long ago. What I used to call his arrogance and buffoonery I now find endearing, and he is as funny as heck! GW Bush said there is no possible way we can deport 11 million illegal immigrants and I wondered, why not? Trump is doing it! This new ballroom is being privately funded, largely by Trump himself. The east wing of the WH was mostly useless, with the First Ladies only operating from there. To this day… Read more »

Appreciate Larry’s reasonable opinion piece. I do have to disagree with him on his position on ICE. People broke the law – for YEARS. The law is now being enforced – finally. The vast majority of people that ICE are going after have committed serious offenses – rape, murder, crimes against children, etc., etc. when you break the law, you have to know that you run the risk that the law is going to come down on you. That day is here. And with regards to the damn ballroom… even Obama complained that every time he had a large event… Read more »

“Bringing jobs back to the USA” is perhaps the worst thing Trump has done. Or rather, hasn’t done and won’t do. I say this because of the way it is being done – TARIFFS – which were a Democrat thing until now. They are a tax on us and jobs aren’t coming back because of them. I am a fiscal conservative always have been – Trump was always Democrat and chose the worst thing to keep from his Democratic past. I would have much rather he kept being anti-assault weapons and pro-abortion than tariffs. Shame. Let’s hope the Supreme Court… Read more »

“OpED: What I love about Donald Trump” by Larry Block is a more accurate title.

How on earth do you enhance free speech when you are notoriously known for censoring comments that criticize you? You delete my comments all the time. All you do is rage bait. I will give you credit for finally admitting that you’re WeHo MAGA.

I think Larry has always been fair, and reasonable. I don’t agree with your comment at all. If he censored you, it must have been some inflammatory, off the wall, indecent comment. I applaud his effort to agree to disagree and have open dialogue of ideas.
