Jesi Harris Welcomed to Planning Commission

Jesi Harris became the newest member of the West Hollywood Planning Commission. Harris was elected to one of two at-large seats replacing outgoing commissioners Michael Lombardi and Erick Matos.

Harris graduated from the University of North Carolina with Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and continued to earn their Master’s degree in Urban Planning with a concentration in Environmental Planning and Analysis, and a certificate in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.

Currently Harris is the Chief Executive Officer of Luz Entitlement Services, a West Hollywood based company operating out of 1008 N. Stanley Drive, #9.    Luz Services specializes in helping real estate developers and landowners navigate the complex process of obtaining land entitlements.

[Editor’s note: Harris has clarified that the vast majority of projects he entitles are within the Coastal Zone of the City of Los Angeles with a few sprinkled around the westside (west of Beverly Glen) of LA City.]

Prior to Luz, Harris worked for the People for Mobility Justice and managed state-based programs such as Metro Bicycle Education Safety Trainings, as well as Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Initiatives.   Harris worked at the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition as well as the Los Angeles LGBT Center prior to to that.

Councilmember Erickson highlighted Harris’s contributions to urban planning, particularly through their work with the WeHo Bike Coalition. “Jesi, your work is tantamount to urban planning, but specifically to making sure our streets are safe with your work with the Weho Bike Coalition, but making sure our streets are livable, walkable, bikeable, and even yes, that makes sure cars get to and from safely,” Erickson said. “I know that your work on this commission will be tantamount into educating the public to making sure that when we think about safety for all, we mean everyone that walks on our streets.”
