Plummer Park dog park construction is now visibly underway, with crews on site and one four legged “puppy supervisor” keeping an eye on the work from the sidelines.
In photos taken this week, workers are deep into the dig while a curious fur legged friend “helps” supervise from the sidelines, unofficially joining the construction team for moral support and hopefully consulting on what is best for the pups.
The new off leash Plummer Park dog park at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard was approved in 2024 and officially went into construction on Monday, September 15, 2025. The project is expected to wrap up in early 2026.

The dog park is being built west of the tennis and pickleball courts and east of N. Vista Street. Construction is not expected to impact the Helen Albert Certified Farmers’ Market, and the City has posted construction notices around the site to help park users plan ahead.
When it opens, the Plummer Park dog park is expected to include:
Separate off leash play areas for large dogs and small dogs
Durable fencing with artistic, laser cut entry panels
Artificial turf without infill and manufactured without added PFAS
Shade sails, plus seating in both shaded and open areas
Dual use water fountains for people and dogs in each play area
Pet waste stations and receptacles in both sections
Low perimeter lighting for nighttime visibility
A new accessible walkway from N. Vista Street to the nearby tennis courts
Drought tolerant, non toxic landscaping and a new shade tree along the perimeter

For now, dogs can still visit Plummer Park but must remain on a leash in the general park area. Nearby off leash options include Hart Park’s dog area and the dog parks at West Hollywood Park, both open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.
We will keep checking on the site, and on the project’s unofficial four legged “inspector,” as work continues toward an early 2026 opening.
