The 7-Eleven convenience store located on Santa Monica Boulevard at Hayworth is pending sale. The family who owns the location decided to sell after 40 years.

An employee on the premises spoke off the record, asking WEHOonline to not disclose the owner’s name. The employee noted the owner has personal medical issues and the many public safety issues in the area that led to the owner’s decision to sell and retire.
In August 2024, WEHOonline reported about a road rage incident that left one man dead at the site.
“The homeless come inside and take things and walk out,” said the employee who has worked at the premises for over a decade.
The Santa Monica Boulevard at Hayworth location is one of at least two 7-Eleven stores currently operating in West Hollywood. California now has the most 7-Eleven locations in the nation with nearly 2,000 stores across the state. The chain reached its peak in the late 1980s with 12,700 stores nationwide before financial difficulties led to bankruptcy in 1990.
Rather than blame “the homeless”, how about blaming the politicians who for the last 40 years, have invited the homeless to come here and set up anywhere they want, and are providing $800,000 luxury condos at the Holloway Motel. One thing is certain, having Danny Hang involved is a guarantee for even more homeless here.
I remember when eight or nine years ago at this 7/11 a guy offered to pay for items a homeless guy wanted. The homeless guy beat him with a hatchet in the parking lot injuring him severely.
People who offer to buy stuff for the homeless are the real problem. It’s like saying “we want more homeless in weho”. It should be a crime to give anything of value (cash, food), to anyone on public property. Arrest those encouraging the homeless to stay here. Danny Hang puts out the welcome mat for the homeless in weho.
It is our duty to give alms to the poor. Those who say they don’t want to give because they fear how the money will be used don’t understand that, when you give anything to anyone, you give up ownership. The moment you offer alms, you have already fulfilled the charitable act that is required, and in doing so, you receive the gift of joy. Consider all the blessings you have, while some people don’t even have a pot to piss in. If people would come together and galvanize their communities, we could solve many of these problems. Since the federal govt hasn’t made housing a right, everything falls on California taxpayers, wether it’s business owners or residents..!
Your comment makes zero sense. Perhaps that was the intention.
It makes no sense to you, because your mindlessness..Your kind is the problem, you complain about the conditions in the streets, but at the same time, your enabling the destruction of society,by being against housing the homeless..!
I’ve been homeless in weho for 2 years and by my calculation of over 800 homeless, ~90+ are DRUG ADDICTS and/or SEVERELY MENTALLY ILL and need INSTITUTIONALIZATION—Bring out the straitjackets!!! I’m now running as the only Gay Republican for weho city Clowncil!
I would say Nimby’s are SEVERELY MENTALLY ILL,because they have made West Hollywood into a homeless toilet..Rather then building rehabs and mental institutions, housing ect, they keep them in the streets crapping and shooting up in front of everyone, now that’s DISGUSTING..!
WeHo spends $100,000 per year per homeless individual on social services. Look at the monthly reports where over 90% of these services are declined. They simply need to be forced off the streets and into care, but we just keep asking them if they want help and they say no. I believe your heart is in the right place, but simply throwing more $ in and doing more isn’t helpful.
More like: WeHo spends $100,000 per year,on pocket money scam contracts, like hiring homeless outreach workers, mobil medical personnel ect.just to cater and keep the homeless in the streets, all the while cityhall/nimby’s block building any rehabs, mental health facilities and housing..So how are they going to force them off of the streets, when there’s no place to house them..?
not the only 711 that might be closing in the city…hearing the one at la cienega is having a lott of issues too lately along with CVS.
He’s selling, not closing. It’s right in the headline
I think their poor customer service skills are as much to blame as any safety issues. I have never encountered as rude of employees as I see at this store (most, not all). Not only are they outwardly rude, the store is often a mess at different times throughout the day. I hope whoever buys it takes more pride in customer service.
7-11 is not & never been about Customer Service. No assistance but register operators who also do all kinds of services (money orders, cell phone accessories & have to keep it vl lean all day long.
It’s a “convince” store .. not Nordstrom.
They’re hostile and mean. Especially the woman. I think that’s the point they’re trying to make.
“customer service” ?! You’re in a 711 for crying out loud.
Yes. I’m aware of what store it is. All stores provide a basic level of customer service, equal to the type of store they are. This store doesn’t even provide the barest of minimums. I’m not expecting Ritz Carlton service, nor did I say that’s what is needed.
When is enough enough!? This city is spiraling fast and faster. Biggest cause, West Hollywood’s kind and gentle homeless rules and regulations that have created a dominating homeless population that out ranks residents and merchants. It’s time to ship the homeless and crazies out of Weho and send our humanitarian whoo haaa city council packing. If 7-11, which caters to the lowest common denominator can’t survive here, nothing can.
Yesterday alone saw at least 20 new homeless walking INTO the city. Some of them scary and now all over the side walks or infront of CVS preventing customers from going in!
THANK YOU WEHO City Council, brilliance!
Ship them to Beverly Hills or Culver City!
Oh, wait ……. they don’t have any homeless people!
Maybe we should do what they do.
For all the taxes that we pay, we have businesses that have concerns about their safety. When are people gonna wake up? Bad policies bring bad results. Vote differently.
