Skims Debuts First L.A. Flagship Store on Sunset Strip with Mel’s Drive-In Pop-Up

Mel’s Drive-In on the Sunset Strip

Skims, the fashion brand launched by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, formerly of Frame, has opened its first permanent retail location in Los Angeles. The new flagship store, situated at 8569 W. Sunset Blvd. on the Sunset Strip, neighbors the iconic Mel’s Drive-In and marks the label’s West Coast debut.

To celebrate the opening, Skims is collaborating with Mel’s Drive-In for a special Skims Drive-In experience, featuring a unique menu and the brand’s signature minimalist aesthetic applied to the diner’s retro Googie architecture. The pop-up event, running from April 2 to 6 during Mel’s regular hours, offers dishes like buttermilk pancakes, Nutella French toast, classic egg breakfasts with hashbrowns and bacon, burgers (including beef and Impossible options), curly fries, onion rings, chicken tenders, milkshakes, and brownies. Shoppers at the Skims store gain priority access to the diner pop-up, with reservations available online.

The 4,546-square-foot boutique, designed by Rafael de Cárdenas, Ltd., showcases Skims’ characteristic skin-tone color scheme, creating what the brand describes as a balance of bold lightness and calm intimacy. Inside, a 12-foot sculpture by Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft welcomes visitors, surrounded by Skims’ full range of products, including shapewear, loungewear, underwear, and accessories priced from $16 to $228. The store stocks popular collections such as Fits Everybody, Skims Ultimate Body, Soft Lounge, Seamless Sculpt, and Cotton, featuring items like bras (including the notable nipple-forward design), butt-boosting leggings, bodysuits, thongs, and dresses, as well as romantic pieces from the recent wedding campaign with Patrick Schwarzenegger and Abby Champion.

“Opening a Skims store in Los Angeles is a full-circle moment. This city has been a huge part of my life, and having a space here where people can experience the brand in person makes it even more special,” Kardashian says in a release. “We’re just getting started, and I can’t wait for what’s ahead.”

This L.A. store follows Skims’ New York flagship opening in March and other recent locations in Austin, Atlanta, Aventura, Fla., Georgetown, and Houston. Since its 2019 launch, Skims has grown from shapewear to include men’s products in 2023 and is now the official underwear partner for the NBA, WNBA, and USA Basketball. The Sunset Strip location operates Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
