A-lister-backed buyout brings big changes to one of West Hollywood’s most exclusive clubs.
Soho House West Hollywood is making major moves — and not everyone is on the guest list.
As first reported by The Pride LA, the private members-only club has begun trimming its membership roster, part of a broader effort to sharpen its focus on the creative community it was originally built to serve. The shift comes in the wake of a $2.7 billion private acquisition, backed by a group of investors that includes actor and entrepreneur Ashton Kutcher.
The changes don’t stop at WeHo. Similar cuts are reportedly happening at Soho House locations in New York and Miami Beach, signaling a nationwide recalibration of the brand’s identity. Sources told Page Six that membership teams are quietly removing individuals who no longer meet the club’s creative profile — a return, insiders say, to the club’s artistic roots.
It’s not the first time Soho House has hit the reset button. In 2010, the company also dropped hundreds of members to distance itself from a growing corporate feel and reinforce its brand as a cultural hub for creatives, not executives.
While Soho House declined to comment on the membership changes, the company’s latest evolution coincides with its exit from the New York Stock Exchange after four years as a public company. The return to private ownership is seen by many as an opportunity to re-center its mission — especially in West Hollywood, where competition in the high-end social club market has intensified.
And exclusivity comes at a price. The current “Every House” membership runs approximately $5,800 per year, not including access to the Malibu location. A $1,000 registration fee is also required, though it’s credited back to members.
For now, it remains to be seen how this new chapter will reshape Soho House’s footprint in West Hollywood. But one thing is clear: in a city known for reinvention, Soho House is once again reimagining its place in WeHo’s ever-evolving cultural landscape.
It’s interesting to see Soho House returning to its creative roots. The membership cuts might make it feel more exclusive again, but I hope it doesn’t lose its community vibe.
Didn’t realize it was so cheap to join. But it’s for douchey types crazing status…..in a city where people drive a Porsche and rent a one bedroom. This is their clientele.
“Douchey types”? I think thou protest too much!!🤡
