With nine days to go before Taylor Swift The Eras Tour The Final Show and a new docuseries arrive on Disney+, the Sunset Strip is buzzing with curiosity about an installation that’s popped up.
Near the corner of Sunset and Holloway, the sidewalk is wrapped in branded barricades. Inside the perimeter are large cutouts of Swift, including one with her back turned in her now-famous sparkly “Fearless” style dress and another frozen in her pose from the Eras Tour performance of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”
Along the walls are banners with the Disney+ logo and the title “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show.” Lights and truss structures rise above the barrier, giving the corner a temporary-set feel on a stretch that already draws heavy foot traffic.
As of Thursday, neither Disney+ nor Swift’s camp had publicly explained what the buildout is for, and there is no posted information on whether the space will open as a fan experience, a premiere site or something else entirely. Social media is buzzing with fans already guessing it’s either a pop-up or special screening tied to the Disney+ rollout.
What we do know is the timing lines up neatly with Swift’s next streaming takeover. On Dec. 12, Disney+ will release “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show,” a full concert film shot at Swift’s last Eras Tour stop in Vancouver, B.C., on Dec. 8, 2024. The special captures the end of the record-breaking tour, now widely considered as the highest-grossing concert tour in history.
The concert film is only half of what is coming on Dec. 12. Disney+ will also drop the first two episodes of “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era,” a six-part docuseries that pulls back the curtain on how the tour took shape and what was happening offstage.
Unlike the earlier concert film, this version is built around that final night and includes the complete “The Tortured Poets Department” section that was added to the tour after the album’s release. Disney has more details on the film here.
In the newly released trailer, Swift thanks the crowd in Vancouver for riding along with her, calling the tour “the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date.”
West Hollywood as launch backdrop
For West Hollywood, the mystery structure at Sunset and Holloway is the latest reminder that the Strip still doubles as a global billboard. Giant activations for music, streaming and awards season have all used this stretch of Sunset as a backdrop in recent years, and Swift’s camp clearly sees the same opportunity.
