Tesla’s first diner, drive-in, and Supercharger station opened on July 21, 2025, at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard, near West Hollywood’s border with Hollywood. Enthusiasts lined up from as early as 8 a.m., with the official opening occurring at 4:20 p.m., as reported by ABC 7. The 9,000-square-foot, two-story venue combines retro aesthetics with futuristic technology, drawing crowds eager to experience its offerings.

The diner features 250+ seats for dining, including a rooftop Skypad with city views, and 80 V4 Supercharger stalls open to all NACS-compatible electric vehicles, marking it as the world’s largest urban charging station, according to Tesla. Solar canopies reduce carbon emissions by 26.6 million pounds annually, enhancing sustainability. Two 66-foot LED megascreens play movies, accessible via the Tesla Diner app or in-car audio, creating a drive-in vibe. “Watch movies and special features on either of two 66-foot LED megascreens,” Tesla notes. Roller-skating servers handed out ice cream, while Tesla’s Optimus robot served popcorn, a highlight for attendees. “I’m super excited to see Optimus like they got the robot from what I’ve seen,” an attendee told ABC 7. “Like based on social media, he’s serving up popcorn. So we’ll see what we get.”

Families from the Valley, visiting multiple times, praised the site’s potential. “Absolutely. This is going to be a destination,” one told KCAL News. “I think, in fact, it’s probably going to upgrade the whole area.” Another added, “This is our third time here actually. Wondering what was going on. Last time we were here I guess they were filming for commercials and it was great. The fence wasn’t up and last night we came to see when it might open and we asked last night and it said 7:00 a.m. and so here we are.” Local resident Josh Becerra, speaking to ABC 7, welcomed the 24/7 hours but noted traffic concerns. “It’s going to be open 24 over seven, so I feel like that’s pretty cool,” he said. “And the only concern is just the traffic in the neighborhood just getting in and out where I live at. I feel like people are going to be pretty, like, respectful for the most part. I don’t think it’s going to get super crazy. I feel like people are just going to voice their opinions about what they think about it, but other than that, like, I’m not too concerned.”

The soft opening over the weekend catered to first responders and Tesla Club Southern California members, with the public debut featuring chef Eric Greenspan’s menu of diner classics like the Tesla Burger and milkshakes, available 24/7. In-car ordering is exclusive to Tesla vehicles, and the site, a prototype along Route 66, could expand if successful, per KCAL News.

The Tesla Diner on Santa Monica Blvd near La Brea should top the list of where NOT to go to eat as opposed to protesting. Tesla’s ostentatious owner intentionally placed it at this location close by out of transphobic/homophobic spite toward West Hollywood upset about the existence of his Trans-daughter who he’s bigotedly & publicly rejected, while ignorantly blaming California’s LGBTQ+ acceptance for making her the way she naturally is. The “Tesla Takedown” protest at the opening was just great and, the place just serves lousy white trash comfort food no better than frozen microwave dinners that cost far less.… Read more »

Even video from the 19th century faux news of the Tesla Takedown protest at the diner shows a whole lot more people there than just me ❗

I really miss Shakey’s. Shame on Elon for not using one of themmultitude of empty lots and boarded up locations for this rather than close down a beloved family restaurant

Nor I. Saw it in progress and almost lost control of the car. And I wasn’t the driver!

Greenspan made one of the best sandwiches I ever had at his eponymous deli on Melrose way back in the mid 2010s – ‘Cuban Reuben’

The food looks to have solid, high quality locally/ethically sourced ingredients too.

Can’t imagine this concept will survive long in LA..

It replaced a Shakeys pizza which was disgusting, but this is much worse.

If tesla dumped him the stock would go up and the cars would be better! Nice tourist attraction, though.

From the guy who brought us job losses through DOGE, come and go chaos in DC, loss of funding to most vital agencies, and the on again/off again relationship with Trump.

No thanks, Elon.

Okay, Uron. Coming from a state that locked down needlessly for years and ruined the jobs and businesses of many. Keep sipping your blue kool aid.

yeah, let’s leave all the waste and fraud in place…
What will it take for people to wake up?! Their own state over taxes them so they can spend OUR money on all kinds of crap but Elon is the bad guy? Whata joke.
