WeHo is celebrating its 41st b’day later this month, with “West Hollywood Day” and everyone’s invited. The event is set for Monday, November 24, at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center. The free event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. RSVPs are required.
This year’s theme, One City, Many Stories, feels right on target. If nothing else, West Hollywood is a city shaped over the years by people with remarkable stories, many of whom never quite fit into the traditional idea of what a city, (or its residents), should be. One City, Many Stories celebrates the many voices and experiences that helped shape West Hollywood’s diverse and vibrant identity, paying homage to the people, projects, and partnerships that define who we are today and where we’re headed next.

Over the decades, West Hollywood has built an international reputation for its work on LGBTQ+ protections, HIV and AIDS advocacy, affordable and inclusionary housing, women’s rights, animal welfare, and environmental protections, oftentimes leading the nation on progressive issues. It has also invested deeply in social services, senior and aging-in-place programs, community arts, recreation, planning, and public engagement. West Hollywood is now also known as a world-class city and international travel destination, with a well-deserved reputation for hosting some of the biggest and best parties around.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the rebels, rejects and reformers who refused to accept what was handed to them and said, “Nope, here’s how it’s gonna be.” With grit and determination, they pushed back, fought for change and won, setting in motion a movement that went on to impact and influence countless lives through the years, including yours and mine. The city that began decades ago with many stories thrives today on the ones we are writing together now.
So kick off the holiday week and come celebrate our one-of-a-kind gem — RSVP here! See ya there!
