WeHo Celebrates International Women’s Day on Sunday

The City of West Hollywood will host an event on Sunday at Plummer Park this weekend in honor of International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality.

international women's day, gender equalityThe event is held in conjunction with the city’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, Russian Advisory Board and Women’s Advisory Board and the American-Russian Business Council.

Events will take place from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Plummer Park’s Fiesta Hall, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. near North Fuller Avenue. Admission is free.

Activities will include an art show, fashion show, crafts, raffle prizes and performances by singers and dancers. There will also be a holiday fair where attendees can shop for jewelry, bags, cosmetics and clothing.

“The event promotes a broader understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds in the city and provides attendees with the opportunity to become acquainted with some of the cultural traditions of the Russian-speaking community while encouraging women and girls to take action to forge a more gender-inclusive world,” said a city announcement of the event..
